Ingredients:
3 1/3 cups milk 1/2 cup flour 3/4 cup sugar 3 egg yolks 2 Tbsp butter 1/2 tsp rootbeer extract dash salt
Directions
In a medium saucepan, scald the milk.
In a separate bowl, combine flour and sugar. Pour into milk, stirring continuosly. Don't stop stirring, folks! Let it come to a *full* boil, stirring all the while.
Sometime during the constant stirring, grow a third arm and use it to separate your egg yolks. Beat them together in a separate bowl, using a fork.
When your milk mixture comes to a boil (what kind of boil? A FULL boil!), pull it off of the heat. Scoop about a cup's worth of the mixture out and pour it into the egg yolks, stiring *that* constantly. When it's all mixed together, pour the egg mixture back into the milk mixture. You need to do this because the milk mixture is so hot. Pouring the eggs directly into it would cause them to cook, which in turn would cause clumps in your soup.
Stir the soup until the eggs are blended in. More stirring. Fun, isn't it? Add butter, rootbeer extract, and salt. Stir once more for good luck (and to melt the butter) and you're set!!
Appx cook time: What, you actually think I'd pay attention to that?
Makes enough to feed 4 starving musicians living in a beach house. |
