Cadace's Concert Story
This was written the day I got back from Las Vegas
I just got back from one of the best dreams I've ever had!

The Monkees concert was awesome!!!!!!!

I'll start this story from the first so it makes sence.......

When we got to Las Vegas the first thing we did was go to MGM and pick up our tickets.  I had been thinking for the longest time that I wanted to see bolth concerts and that I would be willing to pay the extra money to do it.  I had jested about it with Callie before, but when the time came that I was right where I could buy tickets, I blurted out the idea one last time.  It wasn't hard to convince her to do it!  We hurried back and went to buy tickets for the later show....

(warning...here is where the unbelievable parts of the story come)

The lady at the counter calmly asks us whether we want 1st or 2nd row seats!  Callie and I flip!  We, of course, ask for front row seats and we then checked to see if there were any more for her sisters and mine.  There was four more for them too!!!  The only sad thing was that we were in the seats on the furthest right and they were on the seats to the furthest left.

Well Callie and I are now stoked!  We were going to see the Monkees twice, and the second time we were going to be on the front row!!!!!!!!!  And when I say front row, I mean right next to the stage!!!  We could touch the stage from our seats!

So Callie and I go to the first show and we are sitting on the far right of the fourth row, you could see into the left wings of the stage.  our friends would have laughed at us so hard if they where there.  We were acting like a couple of teeny boppers!  One moment I'm sick to my stomach and the next I'm giddy as all get out.  I was shaking soooo hard in anticipation.  It got worse when Callie looked into the wings and then said, "Is that Peter sitting there?  I think it is!!!!!!"  And it was!!!!!!  A little later we see Micky over there and the a little after that I spot a really short guy walking around!!!  It was all I could do to sit through the boy band.  And they were actually really good.  I was fairly impressed with them!

And then The Monkees came in with the Monkee walk!!!!!!!!

For the rest of the concert I just sat there soaking it all in.  The audience wasn't very responsive for this concert.  Callie and I started over half of the spontaneous screams throughout the audience.  About half way through I decided to save my voice for the next concert where I would be right next to the stage and they could hear me.

They started wit Last Train to Clarksville, and I about died.  Micky's voice is the same as his young voice that I love.  He can still belt it out with the best of them!  He sang this blues song, "Since I fell for you" *sighsighsigh* I had shivers running down my spine!  He did Randy Scouse Git and the best was when he did "The Porpoise Song"  it took me 2 seconds to realize what they were leading into and then I started saying "ohmygoshomygoshohmygosh" over and over again.  He also did "Goin' Down" and at the end they had a strob light and he danced around doing his little dance steps.  He was so cool!  The Purple Haze bit was fun too.  It was his impression of Hendrix opening for them.  They started playing Purple haze and then a little into it the back up band started chanting,  "We want the Monkees!  We want the Monkees!"  He then did this impression of a kid in the audience, "Dad...why is that man setting his gitar on fire."  "I don't know son..maybe he was cold"  "Well then why is he peeing on it?"  "To put the fire out son, now shut up and watch the Monkees"  Ok so I found it hilarious.  He also did Papa Gene's Blues in the unplugged version.  They didn't say "Play magic fingers" though, so I was sure to yell it out at the next concert!

Peter was awesome, he sang Auntie grizelda with so much flair!  The way he started it was by counting in a dracula voice "One, two, three, I love to count"  just like the count from Sesame Street!!!  And then the intro to Auntie Grizelda started.  It was too good!  He danced about the stage making gestures with it.  His solo song was Lucille.  And let me tell you, Peter can put that out just as good as Little Richard, perhaps even better!!  I loved his unplugged version of Take a Giant Step!  But his shinning moments were the Bach solo, so awesome!! and when he picked up the 5 stringed banjo.  That man can play!!!!!  On both the keyboard (with a harpsichord sound) and the banjo his hands were just flying!   He was also running aroung the stage on "Steppin Stone" sticking his tounge out and flirting with the audience.  The poor man was sick though...  He did have an awesome coat that he wore though that was red velvet, button up the front with big gold buttons, really 1800's looking!

Davy was in the best shape I have seen him in for years.  His voice was the best I have ever heard it!!  It was a hoot to see him dance about the stage!!!!  He did the Davy dance!!!!!!!!!  He sang this really cool song "Is you is or is you ain't my baby"  It was so cool!!!  He danced about the stage with this awesome hat. He dedicated that song to his girls that were in the audience.  He did a Oliver medley that was fun.  I just loved watching him dance about!

Durring the concert they pointed out this man named Paul and said that he was their biggest fan.  Why I mention this will come in soon.

When we got out of the concert we had 4 Monkee Men waiting for us.  Our sisters looked so cute dressed up in these costumes that Callie made up.  The were getting comments from tons of people.  Well this Paul guy sees them too and he starts talking about all of his Monkee adventures and how he gets backstage passes in to see them.  He told of a time that he saw Peter preform with his band and then he ate lunch with them afterwards.  He also introduced us to his freind Anne, a very nice lady who is sooooooo cute!  She's Davy's freind and the president of the Australian fan club.  She commented on the saying on Callie and my shirts (they said "The Nesxt Generation With Something to Say"),  she thought it was cool.  Well I didn't want to be all cocky and say, "Yah...I'm so cool, I came up with that saying." so my responce was somthing more lame, "Um...Yah...Thanks...It's a thing we sort of say."  *smacks self in head*  I've never claimed to be an eloquent person.

So we were talking to Paul and Anne and having a jolly good time, and then is became time to go in.  We said goodby yo Anne and followed behind Paul to go into the theater for the next concert.  The manager was there and asked what the girls were.  Callie said they were Monkee men and Paul talked a little with the manager, he then says," get them backstage after the concert"  That was when I had the heart attack.  We were all going back to see the Monkees after the concerts!  Back stage passes no less!!!!!!!!!!!

Armed with this, we took our awesome seats and waited for the Monkees to come out.  The second concert was sooooo much better.  The audience was livlier, this was partly because of our sisters screaming like they were at a Backstreet Boys concert!  We were right by Micky!!!  It was awesome!!!!!!  When the guys came out the first thing they saw was the Monkee Men costumes.  Peter got the biggest kick out of them.  Throught the rest of the show he was making faces at them!  They were screaming so much that before the thrid song, Randy Scouse git he paused and said to the audience, "Watch this..."  he then looked at the girls and said "Cucumber" and the screamed!  It was too fun.

Peter at on point started quoting from "A Hard Days Night"  I can't remeber who he was talking about but he says..."He was a clean old man."  Well Callie and me and our sisters start screaming at that so he continues on quoting more from the movie.  I wish I could remeber what else he said, but I was on such an adrenaline high that things got lost. *sigh*

I took full advantage of being right by Micky.  I established eye contact on Last Train to Clarksville and I was grinning like a compleat idiot!  He smiled back though!!!  I spontaneously screamed out through out the show, "We love you Micky" when I was sure he would hear it and when he was looking at me.  Well, through out the rest of the show he would look my way at odd times and he would smile at me!!!!!  He winked at me the cutest wink too!!!!  I was out of my mind with happieness.  The cool thing was that half the time he would look at me was when another person was singing so I would look at them, then I would look his way and he would look mine, see me staring and flash that smile.  He probably thought I was a dork, but I think he loved it too!!!!   I was totally in teenybopper mode.  I would yell that I loved him in the middle oh his song and such.  Well I was having the time of my life with Micky looking my way every once and a while and looking right at me and smiling, but the best part of the night was when at the end the Monkees all touched the hands of the people right by the stage.  When Micky went by he would just brush his hand over most peoples hands, but when he went by mine he held on for a second, kind of shook it, and said "Thank You" right to ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *faints and recovers*  I get goose bumps just thinking about it!  Peter went to touch our hands and fell into a coughing fit, so he thouched our hands after he coughed into it and wiped it onto his pants.  I felt sorry for the poor man.  Davy never reached our hands, because he hugged the lady next to Callie and she screamed into his ear so he cleared it and then left the stage.  *sigh*  Oh well, Micky and Peter Touched my hand!

We then were let back stage, the Monkee Men were given a heavy warning not to scream or rush the Monkees if they came.  These two girls and their parental guidence snuck in with us.  Peter was the only one who came, but he was very nice.  I got my tour picture sign and my picture with Micky upsidedown (which I had hope to have MICKY sign, oh well I can't complain though)  We got picuters with him too.  He was very nice to our Monkee men, he comes in and exclaims "Monkee Men!" like they do on the show and then he begins explaining to others there how these costumes where copied form the show to exact detail,  he then exclaims, "This looks like a job for, Monkee Men"  I wish I had a video camera there!  I took him by surprise  The one sentance I said to him was "I love the Bach solo!"  He looked at me weird like he wasn't sure of what he had just heard!

He was very nice to everybody, making sure that everyone had everything they needed before he left.  We waited a bit more but Micky and Davy didn't come back.  It was dissapointing, but I know how I feel after a two hour performance...I just want to sleep and these guys had done 2 one hour and a half perfomances and are certainly no spring chickens.  I guess being 20 still puts me in spring chicken range.   Oh well!!!!  I got a picture with Peter!!!!!

I had the Concert expirience I dreamed of, and so I hope I don't wake tomarrow and find it was only a dream.
