Stuff About Callie
That would be me in March, 2001.
The first vacation I ever took by myself.
Name: Callie, AKA Blush
Age: 21
Favorite Movies: Head, Hard Days Night, Labyrinth, Pride and Prejudice, Naughty Marietta, Newsies
Favorite Music: I listen to a lot of different stuff.  For example, the last three CDs I bought were 'The Best of Simon and Garfunkel', 'Saved by the Blues' (Shoe Suede Blues), and Josh Groban's self-titled album.
Favorite Books:
Pride and Prejudice is a classic.  As is Jane Eyre.  I also particularly enjoy The Princess Bride, 1984 and The Martian Chronicles.
'Interesting' Facts:

**I obviously don't have much of a life, because I'm sitting here writing a page about myself.  But then, *you're* sitting there *reading* the page.  Guess that doesn't say much for you either.  :)
**I've lived on three different continents, and travelled through most of Europe.  However, 6 years of that travelling was done while I was in elementary school.  I did live in Belgium for two of my high school years, and got to experience a lot then.  Some day I'll go back-packing across Europe.
**I'm a cook.  Now wait just a second, before you start thinking I'm a loser!  I cook because I *want* to.  I *love* my job and can't imagine any other 'career field' making me happy.  Except perhaps for working in a fish cannery in Alaska.  ((Emily, September, 2003!  I'm so there! lol!))
**I don't go to school.  I'd like to take some courses, just for my own entertainment.  Perhaps some history and literature classes.  See, the problem with school is that it takes all your time and money.  Don't get me wrong, learning is great!  But who wants to spend all their free time studying and writing essays?  And if all my money is going towards school, how would I afford to travel?  Plus, I'd have to schedule vacations around classes.  Right now, I can just say, "Gee.  I have a couple days off of work in a row.  I think I'll go to the desert for a while to try and find some non-existant one-ness with the world."  Or "Gosh.  I feel the need to go on a roadtrip.  I think I'll take some time off of work to look for America."
**I'm learning to play the guitar.  I bought a cheap little Yamaha Folk guitar, and I'm taking classes at night at a high school.  It's so much fun!  My teacher is very talented.  And he has great taste in music!  We're playing songs by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, John Denver, CCR, Simon and Garfunkel... and lots more!
**I bought a harmonica while on vacation in Maryland.  The goal was to teach myself to play as well as Tadg Galleran does.  Instead, I annoyed a lot of people!  But I'll not give up hope.  Someday (in the distant future) I'll pick up my harmonica again.
**I can't think of what else to say.  I had a little poem on here that I really liked, but my older sister said it was corny, and I should remove it immediately.  But, well, this is MY page.  If you don't like the poem, sucks to be you.
The Little Poem That I Like, and Rachel Says is Corny
I am a Military Brat.  My hometown is nowhere ... my friends are everywhere.  I grew up with the knowledge that home is where the heart and family are ...

... with no dependence on the dwelling.

Mobility is my way of life.  Some would wonder about my roots, yet they are as deep and as strong as the mighty oak's.
I sink them quickly, absorbing all an area offers ... hopefully giving enrichment in return.  Travel has taught me to be open ...
Shaking hands with the universe, I find brotherhood in all men.

Farewells are never easy.  Yet, even in sorrow comes strength and ability to face tomorrow with anticipation ... if I leave one place feeling that half my world has been left behind, I also know that the other is still waiting to be with me.

Friendships are formed in hours and kept decades.  I will never grow up with someone, but I will mature with many, be it inevitable that paths part ...

... there is constant hope that they will meet again.

Love of country, respect and pride fill my being when my country's flag passes in review.  As I stand to honor that flag, so also do I stand in honor of all military people, most especially those whose lives created mine ... my parents.

Because of them, I have shared in the rich heritage of military life.

I suppose this is the section where pictures should go.  That means I have to find pictures.  Since I'm usually the one behind the camera, there won't be many.
On the couch at Candace's house.
Amanda, Ali, Candace and myself.  This was right after the second annual UNR, and right *before* a cop kicked us out of Lagoon's parking lot.  Oh, we had fun that day.  We all got sun burned though!
That's me and my sister, Amy, dancing in the living room.
My three youngest sisters and myself at the Alamo in June, 2002.
Katie, with her very unique fashion sense, Elyse, wearing her Buddy Holly cap and holding a bag of ice to the finger that had earlier that day been stung by a scorpion, Amy, trying to decide whether to kick or trip me (she went for the trip), and finally, me (who, after almost falling on my face, gave Amy a good pinch in the leg)!
Cripes, you're boring!  Take me to your homepage this instant!
