My mom helped me alot when I would go to the bathroom. She practically lived at the hospital. Sometimes she would go to the lobby right down the hall from my room. She would only ever be gone for maybe 10 minutes at the most. This happened to be one of those times that she went to the lobby. I was asleep when she left. I woke up and I had to go to the bathroom really bad. I called down to the nurses station, like I was told to do, and told my nurse that I had to use the bathroom. "I'll be right down" she said. I sat in my bed trying to get my mind off of the fact that my bladder felt like it was about to burst at any moment! 10 minutes went by and the nurse still wasn't there. When you gotta go, you gotta go!! I called back to the nurses station. Again I was told she was on her way. I sat in my bed for another 10 minutes. I called down to the nurses station for a 3rd time, and like always was told that they were on their way. I'm not sure how long I sat in my bed, but I know it was for a long long time!
It came to the point where I could no longer hold it anymore. I tried to hold it, but just couldn't. Good thing that I had a matress pad on my bed. After I had the accident I still sat and waited on the nurse. About 15 minutes later she entered my room. I told her that I had an accident. She got really mad at me and had me get out of bed and told me "Sit in this chair and don't move until I get back!". I sat in the chair and waited for her to return and clean up my bed. I sat in the chair for 1 hour and she never came back! I guess she was punishing me or something. Finally a nurse did come to my room, but it wasn't the same one. I told her what happened and she changed my bed for me. I had given them an ample amount of time to get to my room and help me to the restroom, but I guess they think I can hold it forever! What do you expect when I have an IV thats dripping really fast making my kidneys work overtime!?!?
