August 2000

Not much happened during this month..I basically just had doctor appointments. August 1, 2000 I had an appointment at the pain clinic. The doctor there told me that I no longer had to come and see him because he was not a GI doctor, and he didn't know anything about my disease. I got 2 of my blood work papers that show my SED rate. July 15 it was 22, and July 20 it was 35. My pain has increased as well. I hope the doctors don't think I'm crazy or anything. August 5, 2000 I went to the ER because for the past 3 days I've seen blood when I go to the bathroom and now im having a bog increase on pain. I had blood in my urinalysis, I had blood in my stool, and on a CT scan they did at the ER it showed part of my left lung had collapsed. The doctors also told me that my right kidney is bigger than the left kidney. August 6, 2000 I went back to the ER again because I am feeling alot worse than before. The pain just won't stop!! And I seen ALOT more blood when I went to the bathroom. I just wish someone could please help me!! August 10, 2000 I had an appointment with my GI doctor. He put me on Miralax and wants me to drink a bottle of that citrate stuff that cleans you out. The doctor got the results of my Prometheus test back. Prometheus is a blood test that can determine if its Crohns disease or Colitis. My Prometheus test said Crohns disease. He has ordered me to have some blood work, a small bowel series, and an endoscopy.

August 14, 2000

August 14, 2000 I had a Functional Bowel Clinic meeting (FBC). FBC is pretty neat because its kinda like a doctor appointment, but you see like 4 or 5 different doctors. You might see your GI doctor first, then go to another room and see your surgeon..and so on. Then, after you have seen all your doctors, they sit together in a room and discuss the best treatment plans for you. My GI doctor is going to call the pain clinic and let them know that I am in pain. August 16, 2000 Today I had an appointment at the pain clinic. The pain clinic doctor kept saying that he couldn't treat me for something that wasn't visible, and that I should go to St.Francis. I told him that my GI doctor sent me to THIS pain clinic to get pain management of my Crohns disease. He told me "Whatever you want to do" , and gave me a prescription for Ultram. I can't even take ultram. what a jerk! After I left the pain clinic I went to my GI doctors office (they are in the same building). I told him and his nurse what happened. My GI doctor agreed to give me pain medicine for 2 months or until I could get an appointment at St.Francis. After changing my meds all around and not seeing any results I was sent to see a colon surgeon for evaluation. They needed another test done to determine whether there was scar tissue, or inflammation in my intestine. If it was scar tissue they could cut it out. If it was inflammation they would need to do surgery. The test confirmed that it was infact inflammation. He agreed that surgery would be the best thing.
