| If you are interested in learning how to be a ghost hunter, below are some guidelines you should follow and some equipment you will need. | |||||||||||||
| Basic rules to follow: 1. Never trespass: Ask permission if it's private property. 2. Never go alone: If something happens and you are alone, who would help? 3. Don't litter: Please leave the area as you found it. 4. Carry I.D. 5. Test Equipment: Replace batteries as needed. 6. Do not go to a site at night: Always check it out in the daylight for possible obstacles. 7. DO NOT smoke, drink, or do drugs. Keep a clear mind. 8. Do not wear perfumes or aftershaves. The air needs to be clear of unnesassary odors. 9. Carry a notebook: Record everything, events, actions, times. 10. Wear a watch. 11. DO NOT whisper: Speak clear and loud, so you don't confuse your voice with something supernatural. 12. Do research and profiles: Good research may help you see a ghost. 13. Only bring what you need. 14. Don't forget flashlights. Don't use your car's headlights, you may run down your battery. 15. Take plenty of pictures and video. Make sure you have extra rolls of film. 16, Bring food and drinks: You never know how long you may be gone. 17. Never go into dangerous areas: Avoid old condemmed buildings, cliffs and places where the weather is bad. |

| Basic Equipment 1. Business Cards: Include name and contact information. 2. Notebooks and Pens/Pencils: Needed to keep notes, jot down info and events. 3. Flashlights: At least 2 with extra batteries. 4. Tape Recorder and Blank Tapes: Use quality tapes and an external mic. ALWAYS use new tapes. 5. Tape Measure: 12-50 feet 6. White Ball of String: 100 feet 7. Scissors and/or Knife 8. Watch 9. Drawing Paper 10. Thermometer: It can detect changes in room temperatures. 11. Compass: Great for navigating and can pick up electromagnetic forces. 12. Chalk: Used to mark areas. 13. Area Maps: If possible 14. Cotton Balls: To place by windows and doors to detect movement. 15. Label Guns and Labels 16. Twist Ties or Clamps 17. Talcum Powder: To sprinkle on floors to detect movement. 18. Liquid Level Ruler: To measure slanted areas. 19. Cross, and religious items 20. First Aid Kit 21. I.D. and Cash |

| Optional Equipment 1. 35mm Camera: For best results use black and white or infrared film. Most hunters carry 2 cameras loaded with each type. Buy quality film and a light meter is handy to have. 2. Video Camcorder: This gives visual proof of ghost activity and helps document sites. 3. Night Vision equipment: This helps cause you can shoot in the dark. 4. Headset Communicators: These are handy for staying in touch. 5. Spot Lights: Comes in handy when setting up and taking down cameras and other equipment. 6. Binoculars 7. Geiger Counter: This helps read radiation on the ground, in the air, or on an object. |
