Jesus Oil
A couple of summers ago, Tina and I took Samantha to what used to be "Twitty City", in Nashville, Tn. Trinity Broadcasting purchased the property, and has turned it into one of their studios.
Samantha was in awe as we toured the studio. She recognized the studio as it is where TBN produced "The Glory of His Resurrection"...better known to Samantha as her "Jesus Movie".
After touring the grounds, we stopped at the gift shop where Tina decided to purchase a little trinket to commemorate our visit...it was a little vial of oil, mixed with myrhh...annointing oil. When we got home, she place the little vial on the dresser, in the bedroom, and promptly forgot about it.
Several weeks later, on a Saturday morning, Tina decided to run some errands while I was home to watch Samantha. Sam was devastated that she could not go with Tina, and before long, was crying hysterically to have missed an outing with mommy.
In desperation, having tried everything to cheer her, I suddenly announced..."Sam, I have Jesus Oil!...It will make you quit crying and feel better."
Samantha was instantly enthralled at the idea of Jesus Oil. I went to the bedroom, grabbed the little vial, popped the top, rubbed a little on her forehead, and announced..."You are better now!" Her crying stopped, the anger subsided, and all was peaceful again.
The following week, I was, again, watching Samantha, while Tina ran some errands. I was sitting at the computer, trying to work on a webpage. I had gotten flustered because the computer was not cooperating with my efforts. I did not notice how agitated I had become, until Samantha jumped up and exclaimed, "I'll get it...I'll get it!", and with that, ran out of the room. I was about to go check on her when she returned, carrying the little vial of oil.
In solemn fashion, she handed me the vial and waited while I removed the top. She then poured a little on her finger, rubbed it on my forehead, and with evangelistic fervor, declared, "Daddy better now!"
TBN may have Oral Roberts, Jerry Falwell, and Pat Robertson, but I have Samantha!
