MUEN: HI FRANZ! FIRST CAN WE ASK YOU, WHAT DOES THE NAME OF YOUR FIRST PROJECT, "mYcOmplEX 1" MEAN?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: The name "mYcOmplEX1", came out 6 years ago while I was doing vocals and guitars in my first coverband. I couldn’t stop looking for a name anyplace and suddenly a friend popped up with a "Ecko Complex" shirt and I went all crazy like "…this gotta be mine, so I adopted the name and it became "my complex". I attached the number 1 after a while, ’cause it stands for the only one member who kept true with it, me ;)

MUEN: HOW OLD WERE YOU IN 2005, WHEN YOU STARTED THIS PROJECT, AND HOW DID YOU MEET MARIANA?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: I was 21 years old when I started picking up music again. I had too many ideas stuck in my head, so I just started trying to pull things on guitar. 2005 was a fast year, I collected the main ideas, went back from Germany to Mexico, got a demo recorded and decided to move on solo. Mexico, cause it was way cheaper to record at and cause part of my family still lives here. I met Mariana in 2007 at a jamming session. A friend told me to come over and see them play. She sang a Korn cover and I wanted to try out something with her, as I had already started recording the "mYcOmplEX1" album.

MUEN: WHAT ALL DID MARIANA DO FOR THE mYcOmplEX 1 PROJECT?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: She didn’t do that much hehe, I had everything done and pre-recorded by when I took her to the studio, so I basically just gave her the lyrics, checked if she was ok with what they talk about and started her recording. She had a guest appearance on my birthday Gig 2007, but she decided to move on with different stuff as she got herself into something like "American idol", but Mexican style. I don’t actually know what shes been into lately.. Ive been auditioning new vocalists, but none fit yet. :) lets say this project is on ice for now, but there will definitely come new stuff too.

MUEN: IT SEEMS YOU HAVE MORE STRINGS (GUITAR) IN YOUR EARLIER MUSIC. WHAT WAS YOUR MAIN MOTIVATION FOR LEAVING mYcOmplEX 1 BEHIND AND STARTING "TRACKS N’ CONSCIENCE" WITH LESS GUITAR AND MORE ELECTRONICS?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Yeah, there were way more guitars in "mYcOmplEX1", the reason is because I didn’t have any programs or knowledge of sampling, basing or editing before, the whole project started with guitars. I went to the studio recorded them, learned to sample and got that record straight. Tracks n.. conscience wasn’t really planned to come out, the motivation to put "mYcomplEX1" on ice came suddenly, cause I had finished the first "mYcOmplEX1" album "reaction negative" in the endings of November 2007, went to Germany, passed Xmas with the rest of the family and got some new programs. The first night I got back from Germany I was just like a kid, couldn’t wait to see, what the program was about and started sampling again, but in a fun way, so I guess its because of the fun, why I iced "mYcOmplEX1", wanted to do something different and not get bored with always the same thing. More electronics cause I didn’t feel a real need to put more strings into TnC. Songs are easier and quicker to make, "mYcOmplEX1" took me almost an entire year, cause its just me on everything.

MUEN: YOU SEEM TO GET RADIO PLAY QUITE EASILY. SUCH AS THE SONGS "BLINDED" AND "MY FAVOUR" ON GERMAN RADIO. WHAT RADIO STATION WAS THAT, AND WAS THE RADIO STATION IN GERMANY YOUR FIRST? ALSO, HOW DID THAT OPPORTUNITY COME ALONG?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: It seemed to be the right place and time for it, the station was a local one called "Radio Ostfriesland", one of my best friends, I hung out with almost everyday in Germany, started noticing that I wouldnt come over that much to play videogames anymore hehe, so yeah, he had some questions about it, cause he and some other guys had started hosting a private show back then and he came up with the: "well, if you..re going to do this recording stuff and come back from Mexico with something in your hands, I..ll interview you and give you the space to talk about your stuff. What can I say, he kept his word :) and so yeah, this is how I actually got my first radio interview and play ever :)

MUEN: YOU’VE ALSO BEEN FEATURED ON "VM UNDERGROUND" AND OTHER INTERNET RADIO. WHAT SONGS DID THEY PLAY MOST OFTEN?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Yes, I got interviewed by Vic, he is real cool, he interviewed and played me on his Show, I also got played on Nvasion radio Canada, Radio Matiz Urbano Mexico, and Radio Electrowahn Germany :) At first it was "Blinded", cause it was the first song finished with the "reaction negative" record. But I Think after all, they mostly liked playing "time", "delirious" and "everything flows", though the most commercial one of r/e is "Seraya". By now, tracks n.. conscience is more asked (I guess). They play whatever they want to and that’s cool with me, as long as they do. Lets just say that there were a lot of friends included helping me out to move on in that point :)

MUEN: BEING THE FACT THAT YOU USE ALOT OF CULT MOVIES FOR YOUR TRACKS, SUCH AS "FICTIONS," "REPULSION," AND "SHINING FEAT MR.NICHOLSON," (from "The Shining") ETC... WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO SELECTING THAT CERTAIN PART OF THE MOVIE?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Definetely parts, everybody knows and has fun with, when they hear or see those. Its kind of a memory recall for me, so if I want to hear and remember, I definitely need and cant leave out certain parts of some movies. It was pretty hard, that one time I promised somebody to make a song with a certain guideline, it kinda kicks my creativity, so most of all, its about the key parts I love about one movie and need, to retell its story in a quick way.

MUEN: DO YOU EVER WRITE POETRY, OR ADD LYRICS TO YOUR WORK?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Yes, I love writing, I wake up in the middle of the night and start writing short stories or dreams, weird stuff… I write since I..m 15 years old and I love it, Ive written all the lyrics for "mYcOmplEX1", I love to play with words, give words another way of perspective. Like for example, I speak and write in 3 languages, you got that example in "mYcOmplEX1", I mix everything up, tell a story in a way everybody is able to get it, even without knowing 3 languages, cause of key words. I thought about publishing some stories, but I guess it’s a bit too sick… people might want to put me in a white jacket, though the last dream I wrote down, could be a real cool video and you might find some of the new stuff in the next "mYcOmplEX1" record.

MUEN: HAVE YOU EVER PERFORMED THE SONGS IN A LIVE SITUATION BEFORE? AND IF SO, HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT THAT?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: With "mYcOmplEX1" I had some gigs, but didnt ever get out of Puebla. Right now I got a new concept for it, I will unpack that, by when the project is unfrozen, its all about live sampling and taking a Dj with me.

With Tracks n.. conscience I..m working on more new stuff after the feedback I got. A friend Dj and I will be out playing live with TnC until march. By now its still about to introduce this stuff to people here in Mexico. This friend Dj and I already had some tryouts to see how people react on TnC in some clubs and yeah, it works and will be a lot of fun.

MUEN: HAVE YOU EVER ATTEMPTED A VIDEO FOR YOUR SONGS? AND IF NO, DO YOU THINK YOU MIGHT, ANYTIME SOON?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Yes, I have an oldschool fancy self shot and edited clip from 2005, when I recorded the Blinded/MyFavour demo and I would really love doing a video for "Syron". This song is definitely one of my favs, though I want to finish the TnC album first, make the introduction tour and get some money, to put quality into this. Still, anybody who reads this and has any cool ideas, I would love to see people..s artwork, make a clip for "Syron" or any other of the songs. Its always fun to see what comes out, the best might be on Tv soon, who knows ;) By now Im working on different projects, a friend and I persue doing music for movies, but this is nothing worth talking about yet…

MUEN: FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE THERE IN MEXICO, DOES THERE SEEM TO BE MUCH SUPPORT FOR YOUR TYPE OF MUSIC, AND ARE THERE VERY MANY OTHER ARTISTS IN YOUR AREA THAT EITHER RECORD OR PERFORM INDUSTRIAL TYPES OF MUSIC?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: There is support, there are a couple of electronic events, but its hard to tell in which direction people point, when they search for music. We got a pretty small scene of "industrial/goth", "electro dark" music, though my stuff is a little bit easier to handle and to dance, I think in Europe are more chances. I know a couple of electronic performing and recording bands which are real good, like some friends from mexico city, I..ve always wanted to do something with, but I think this stays by wishful thinking hehe.

MUEN: WHAT OTHER ARTISTS INSPIRE YOU RIGHT NOW? OR WHICH ONES IN THE PAST?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: I have so many influences, to start in the past, when I was about 16 years old, I couldn’t stop listening to Limp Bizkit, Korn, Static X, Slipknot, Rammstein, Linkin Park (seen all of them live)… it was more about Nu-Metal back then. Now I already opened up a bit, I still love the same bands, but also got new ones like "In Strict Confidence", "The 69 Eyes", "The Birthday Massacre", "Oakenfold", "Deathstars" and a couple more :)

MUEN: DO YOU COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE ELSE ON THE NEW PROJECTS, AND EVEN IF YOU DO.. ARE YOU STILL LOOKING FOR OTHER ARTISTS TO WORK WITH?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Yes, Amduscia (Mexico City) would be a great shot for me, but just last week a local rock band called "Los Stoners" asked me to make an electronic version of one of their songs. I worked a bit under pressure on that, but got them a demo track, of how it could be sounding like. A friend from New Zealand called "Jaded Refelection", is working over one of my bases right now, so lets see what comes out. Maybe I will do more stuff in the future with bands and Id love to interact with bigger bands, rock, electro, whatever, I don’t give a … Im open for everything. I just wanted to put hand on a Birthday Massacre song and remix it, but I think I might get my ass kicked real badly, doing that without permission haha. Another thing would be making music for movies or shortcuts, as mentioned before. I definitely love to work with people and anyone who reads this, feel free to show me your project, if it sounds like fun, I will definitely love working with you :)

MUEN: DO YOU EVER RECORD OR PLAY MUSIC THAT IS NOTHING COMPARABLE TO WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY RELEASE, OR PUT ON YOUR MYSPACE PAGE?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Yeah, who doesn’t do that ? haha, it’s the fun and the experiment, to see what you can be up to, just play along, or record stuff. I always wanted to make a Tom Jones "She..s a lady" Metal version haha, but I guess I got what I wanted with "Las Vegas".

MUEN: SO WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE COMING YEAR?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: Finish the album, go out, play live with TnC, get new projects, meet cool new people and have a lot of fun with everything, I cant really tell this is "work" for me, as lots of other people do, its fun for me. It sure costs time and money, but once more, IF YOU DON’T DO THIS FOR FUN AND IT DOESN’T COME FROM YOUR HEART, STOP DOING IT ;)

MUEN: WHAT ARE THE TWO BEST SONGS YOU THINK YOU HAVE AT THIS POINT IN TIME, AND WHY DO YOU THINK THEY ARE YOUR BEST?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: With "mYcOmplEX1" it would be "Delirious" and "Everything flows", because those two songs just reached a level, I never thought I would be able to push songs to, by my own.

With TnC, it would definitely be "Syron" and "Las Vegas", they came out of nothing and result being something I can be proud of playing around with, those two finally show more or less into which direction this is going to, "Syron" is the first and "Las Vegas" the by now latest TnC song, so I think this might still become more interesting.

MUEN: CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE YOU IN THE U.S. ANYTIME SOON?

TRACKS IN CONSCIENCE: I hope so, the contacts are above, write me, deal me, I..ll be ready and Im really looking forward to it, I..ve been in the U.S. a couple of times, but always for vacation only, but it would definitely rock my life to play there :) ANYTIME !!!
