Some of you may have figured it out.. most of what catches our attention first is a band's "song".. like "what else is there?" .. well it was a song talkin' 'bout "no one wanting to hear a rock and roll band no more" is what got us going here with TTWT... great hook, real attitude, sure it's not a prefect recording, but the foundation is there.. so we wanted to talk to these guys... To be continued...
MUEN: SO WHO IS "THE TROUBLE WITH TELEVISION" EXACTLY? IS IT JUST A COUPLE MEMBERS, OR A FULL BAND?
TTWT: The Trouble With Television are Will Fletcher and Dan Nave. The usual recording set up is Will playing drums, bass, guitar and lead vocals and Dan playing guitar, bass, backing vocals and percussion. Will writes the majority of the songs. The way we do it live is record the drums and bass before hand (as well as some keys) and use the 24 track recorder it's recorded on as the backing. All of the vocals and guitars are live on stage. We just really didn't want to take the time to look for drummers and bassists early on. In the future we might switch up and have Dan on bass and a real drummer, but this way sounds great through the PA and we make more money!
MUEN: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AT THIS?
TTWT: We've been doing it now for about a year and a half.
MUEN: WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT GOALS WITH THE BAND, WHAT DO YOU MOST WANT TO ACCOMPLISH IN THE COMING MONTHS?
TTWT: Our goal is to do more live shows! That's why we might start looking for a live drummer, because we really want to start touring by the first of the year, and we don't want to have to deal with the Nine inch Nails equipment melting conundrum. Or if we start at the first of the year, equipment freezing conundrum.
MUEN: SO WHAT IS THE TROUBLE WITH TELEVISION IN YOUR VIEW? (PARDON THE PUN)...
TTWT: The Trouble With Television, in our view, is us. We're the motherfuckin' Trouble With Television. Good question. My DVD player broke last night and I thought that might be it, but no, it's us.
