MUEN: LET ME START BY SAYING THAT I THINK YOU GIRLS ROCK!! I WAS CHECKING OUT YOUR MYSPACE PAGE AND IT SAID THAT YOU ARE DRIVEN BY HARDSHIP AND LOSS AND THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT MUSIC WILL SAVE ALL. TELL US ABOUT THE DRIVE BEHIND THE BAND. WHAT BARRIERS HAVE YOU HAD TO BREAK THROUGH TO GET WHERE YOU ARE?

Cris: Thanks! I started this band four years ago after my best friend passed away. I had a huge void to fill and so I did it with music. Music has been there for me my whole life.
Sylv: We've all been through hardship and loss. I guess that's why we all get along and are driven to make this band a success to prove to all the non-believers that it's possible to overcome any obstacle.
Elie: For the band, I think the biggest barrier is the stereotype about female musicians. We have to prove that girls can rock as well or even better than guys.

MUEN: WHERE IS THE BAND FROM?

Cris: The band is based in Toronto, Canada.

MUEN: HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME AND WHAT SIGNIFICANCE DOES IT HAVE?

Cris: I was driving home from rehearsal one day and I saw a quote on a church billboard and the words scarlet sins jumped out at me...like a gift from God or something. As the band evolved, the named took on different meanings for me. Today, it reminds me that we're all sinners in one way or another and we're all equal.

WHAT MAKES SCARLET SINS STAND APART FROM OTHER ALL GIRL BANDS?

Cris: Our sound and Sylvya's voice is what makes us stand out from other bands, regardless whether it's a girl or boy band.
Tanya: We don't sound like girls...that's the biggest compliment we get.
Elie: We are a girl band, but we want to be treated like any other band, period. A lot of people have told us that when they close their eyes during a show or if they hadn't seen pictures of the band, they would've believed we were a guy band.
Sylv: We may be girls, but we definitely don't fit into the all-girl band category. Being female is irrelevant; we let the music speak for itself.

YOU ARE SET TO RELEASE YOUR SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM THIS MONTH. CONGRATULATIONS ON THAT!! GIVE US A LITTLE INSIGHT ON THE ALBUM. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS CD?

Sylv: This CD comes from the heart. It's about all the trials and tribulations we've been through from heartache and loss to love to finding ourselves. It's heavy, dark, passionate and melodic. I think everyone will be able to relate to it.

MUEN: A LOT OF BANDS HERE IN LOS ANGELES STAND OUTSIDE CLUBS AND GIVE OUT FREE DEMOS OF THEIR SONGS. BESIDES MYSPACE HOW DO YOU GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT YOUR MUSIC? DO YOU HAVE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT TOO?

Tanya: Yes, we have a Facebook and also a Trig account that allows us to network with people and invite people to our shows.
Cris: We have our songs played on several web stations, but Word of mouth is still the best way to spread our music.

MUEN: HAVE YOU BEEN APPROACHED BY ANY LABELS?

Sylv: We have...right now by small indie labels. We really haven't shopped the CD yet. So it's a good sign that people are approaching us without us even knocking on their doors.

MUEN: WILL YOU BE MAKING ANY MUSIC VIDEOS?

Sylv: We hope to in the very near future!

MUEN: IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO ADD OR ANY COMMENTS YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE?

Cris: Check out our website www.scarletsinsonline.com and MySpace www.myspace.com/scarletsins to read news, listen to MP3s, or talk to us and say hi.
Sylv: Come see us live and make sure you pick up a CD at cdbaby cdbaby.com/cd/scarletsins2 You won't be disappointed!
