HOW DID THE MOBILE LICENSING DEAL COME ABOUT WITH "SPRINT & O2 (United Kingdom)" NETWORKS AIRING YOUR VIDEO FOR "WALK AWAY?" AND TELL US ABOUT ADRENALINE NATION TV... "WALK AWAY" HITTING #1 AND AIRED TO OVER 100 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS WORLDWIDE!
We actually were contacted through Sonicbids which is an amazing network for Unsigned bands to connect with companies, promoters, agents etc. They saw our digital press kit we created on there and then offered the deal.
With Adrenaline Nation we basically just submitted our material just like everyone else and couldn’t believe that not only did the video get selected for rotation, but also hit #1. It felt pretty amazing to say the least.
FUSE TV / PUREVOLUME / TAMA... LOT OF ENDORSEMENTS HERE, IS IT PAYING OFF?
Absolutely!! We’re actually endorsed also by Sageman Drums as well. They actually designed me (Chastity) my own custom made djembe with the OUTLETT logo carved into it. Felt beyond overwhelmed to receive the love like that. The endorsements help with both parties because we promote one another to showcase each others talents. It’s a beautiful thing!
WHAT WAS THE AEROSMITH / MOTLEY CRUE SHOW LIKE? DID YOU GET TO MEET EVERYONE AND HAVE AN AFTERPARTY?
That was INSANE!!! The crowd welcomed us with open arms even though nearly most of the crowd had never even heard of us. They went nuts when we did our tribute to Dimebag when we played Damage Plan’s “PRIDE”. We didn’t get to party with ALL the bands, but we certainly partied til the sun came up! That’s how we roll! Teehee!!
TOP UNSIGNED ARTISTS IN THE "ARTIST REGISTRY?" "HOT 100 BEST UNSIGNED BANDS" IN "MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE?" "AND SO MUCH MORE!" ALOT OF BIG ACCOMPLISHMENTS HERE!! WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE NUMBER ONE REASON FOR ALL THIS SUCCESS? AND WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH NEXT? WOW!
To hear all that broken down like that is pretty awesome. I would say most of all just working really hard to make the best music that we can and not caring about what people say we should do but rather what we feel deep down inside. You can’t slack off these days and wait for the dream to come to you. You have to manifest your dreams. Sooo….work work work…and work!!!!
TELL US, SINCE OUTLETT WOULD KNOW MORE THAN ANYONE, JUST ABOUT... WHAT IS THE HOLLYWOOD CLUB CIRCUIT LIKE? IS THERE ALOT OF "TURN-OVER" WITH THE BANDS PLAYING IN THE AREA? OUTLETT HAS HAD SUCH A STRONGHOLD, AND HAS PERFORMED HEAVILY THERE...
We’ve been pretty fortunate to have all the love that we’ve obtained in our hometown. I’m born and raised in LA and I love being an Angelino. The thing about LA these days is that you have people from all over the world coming here and trying to pursue their dreams because they believe this is where they need to be to make it happen and be seen. I don’t agree with that though. I think you need to build a following and create a buzz by writing strong material, having a killer live show, and promoting the heck out of yourselves. I believe you can be anywhere to do that. It will be noticed. There is a ton of turn over in bands in LA because they realize how many other bands are here trying to do the same thing. More than most cities. So many times they give up. What it comes down to is how bad do you want it and are you willing to persevere.
CHASTITY, WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS USUALLY ON WITH THE LYRICS IN YOUR SONGS? AND WHO WERE SOME OF YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES? WHEN I HEAR YOUR VOICE, I THINK OF GREATS LIKE, LINDA PERRY (4 NON BLONDES) OR JOHNETTE NAPOLITANO (CONCRETE BLONDE)....
Oh wow!!! I’m a huge Concrete Blonde fan…..so interesting you say that! I would say I’m also a Huge Layne Staley (Alice In Chains) fan, Chester from Linkin Park, Brandon Boyd (Incubus) Sarah McClauglin, Pat Benetar, Eddie Veder, Lauren Hill (random right?) just to name a few ;)
I usually focus on turning a negative into a positive in the lyrics I write. Pure Positive aggression. I’m not one to complain or whine or fester. I like to talk about the realities that we face today like war, corruption, hunger, global warming and rather than complaining about it I like to state the issue at hand and then sum it up with how or what can we do to fix this. It’s the same when I write a love song. It can appear to be sad or dark, however I like to sum it up with it’s okay…the darkness will turn to light!
WHAT WAS THERE BEFORE "OUTLETT" - SUCH AS WHAT OTHER BANDS ARE THE MEMBERS FROM?
Well I was in another band called Subliminal Bliss where I played drums. We had some mild success but I knew I was ready for the next step.
Jay J and Hos were in a band called ERB which they were in with Chris Howorth from “In This Moment”. Small world huh!?
Dave was in a band called Drop 6 which also had some mild success as well.
DO YOU HAVE A MANAGER? AND ARE THERE OTHERS YOU WOULD LIKE TO MENTION, WHO MIGHT HAVE CONTRIBUTED DIRECTLY TO YOUR SUCCESS THUS FAR? Yes we do. I would have to say thank you to our Meesh. She has been the heart and soul of OUTLETT and has helped fuel the fire from the beginning. She’s our booking agent and tour manager. Then there’s Randy Spencer with Pitch Music our new manager whom truly knows the pure meaning of perseverance. He’s created a focus and a direction for us that we couldn’t of obtained on our own.
WHERE ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PERFORM LIVE IN AND AROUND THE L.A. AREA?
I would definitely have to say House of Blues on Sunset is the best with The Key Club right there as well. Such great venues with amazing sound and ambiance.
WHAT IS THE MOST GRUELING PART OF THE MUSIC BUSINESS FOR YOU? WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE THE MOST?
The most grueling part I would say is trying to stand out. You have to really work hard to be noticed in a sea of bands. It’s a constant battle trying to be heard. But the work does pay off!
WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF IT ALL (THE MUSIC BUSINESS IN GENERAL)?
Getting to do what we love and sharing it with people that share the same passion for our music.
SO TELL US ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM AND THE SONG "WALK AWAY?" WHAT TYPE OF AIRPLAY, AND/OR DISTRIBUTION HAS THERE BEEN SO FAR? WHERE WAS IT RECORDED, AND HOW DID YOU EVEN FIND TIME FOR IT? WITH ALL THE LIVE PERFORMING YOU DO?
The new disk is in the works and we’re very excited about it. There are going to be a lot of exciting things to come with it but we can’t share all our secrets just yet. ;)
Walk Away has been tremendous for us. It’s pretty crazy how many people have connected with that song. It means so much to know that we’ve been able to get all the airplay that we have. And that’s been from mostly people finding us. We’ve yet to do a full radio campaign. Which we will. But it’s been really overwhelming because I can google our band and find a new station we’re being played on almost everyday….it’s pretty sik! We love IT! It means people get it which in turn means they get us! It’s the BEST!
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT OF ALL FOR THE BAND (TO DATE?) WOULD THAT BE "ROCK ARTIST OF THE YEAR - LOS ANGELES?"
I think the biggest accomplishment more so than all the awards are all the fans that we’ve obtained along this ride. We’ve gained a tremendous fan base of people that truly love what we do and that to me is the biggest accomplishment.
THANKS FOR THE INTERVIEW!! AND WE'VE BEEN KEEPING YOU IN THE TOP 24 ;) ... WE WISH YOU CONTINUED SUCCESS!
