kHz is definitely a band to take notice of, currently getting more recognition for their unique, refreshing synthesis of experimental rock.. I compare them to Garbage, but with a vast amount of attitude that goes far beyond the first witnessings of Shirley Manson, or even Alanis Morissette's debut. More beauty.. sorry, than these predecessors of the 90's, and with a reign of angst and fire far greater than anything I can recall in this genre, Raiana, is set to make an impact! Between live performances, guitarist/producer of kHz, Pull, has been producing & remixing releases by major artists such as Shinedown, Rob Thomas, LiL Kim, Mindless Self Indulgence and Jewel, among others. Pull also directed and edited both of the bands highly acclaimed videos Envy and Test My Faith which have been circulating nonstop over the internet and have been added to rock video pools that service clubs all over the country.

Lead Singer Raiana has been featured in Maxim Magazines new Bacardi advert for Mojito and she is also the official Spread Radio Live Vixen, where she models Dave Navarro's custom clothing line for his "Spread Radio Live" radio station.

MUEN: SO THE DEBUT IS OUT! 'REALITY ON A FINER SCALE'... OFCOURSE AVAILABLE AT I-TUNES... AND WHERE ELSE IS IT AVAILABLE?

Raiana: It's available at some stores but honestly we don't know which ones. It's best to buy directly from us at our websites, it's cheap, fast and safe. The stores jack up the prices and they keep the extra money so we feel they are ripping off us and our fans. It is also available on all digital sites like napster etc.

MUEN: WHERE DID YOU RECORD THE ALBUM, AND DID YOU PRODUCE THIS ALBUM YOURSELVES?

Raiana: The album was recorded and mixed by Pull at "Purgatory Studios" which is Pull's studio in NY.

MUEN: PULL, YOU ACTUALLY DID PRODUCTION ON OTHER ARTIST'S ALBUMS, SUCH AS JEWEL, RIGHT? HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH HER MUSIC? AND HOW DID YOU GET THE JOB FOR THAT?

Pull: Outside of the band I work on different projects. Since the band is my main focus I try to only Remix or create Alternate versions for artists' singles - since producing would take up too much of my time. I have been doing this for some time but have mainly been working on artists in the "Atlantic Records" family. Working on Jewel's songs was great, I always enjoy working on material by someone who's art is very honest and real to who they are. She was really supportive and allowed alot of creative freedom.

MUEN: WHO ELSE HAVE YOU PRODUCED?

Pull: I have my own 2 sites with my Discography listed on both. www.myspace.com/gotpull and www.gotpull.com

MUEN: DID THE BAND COME TOGETHER IN NYC? AND ARE ALL OF YOU ORIGINALLY FROM THERE? HOW AND WHERE DID YOU FIND JOE AND NICK?

Raiana: The band did come together in NYC and we are all from NY except Nick who grew up in Connecticut and now lives in New Jersey. Pull met Nick while he was producing a band Nick was in, and we met Joe through a mutual friend.

MUEN: EXPLAIN THE ADULT CROSSOVER FILM "JANINE LOVES JENNA"... WHAT TYPE OF ADULT FILM IS THIS, OTHER THAN JUST BEING PORN? AND WHAT SONG OFF 'REALITY ON A FINER SCALE' WAS USED ON THE SOUNDTRACK?

Raiana: Not much to explain. It is basically an adult film but they tried to take it to another level by making it higher quality with special fx, very stylized sets, music video style editing and a real soundtrack. They used something like 7 of our songs to score the movie. We never saw any of it till it was done.

MUEN: I READ THAT THE PRODUCERS FOR THE FILM USED MYSPACE TO FIND THE MUSIC ARTIST THEY WOULD USE, AND THEY CHOSE KHZ OUT OF SOMETHING LIKE 2000 BANDS! WERE YOU SURPRISED?

Raiana: It's always flattering when someone not only likes your music but feels a connection to it. Both Jenna and Jay were into the band and thought it would be a great back drop to what they were creating.

MUEN: ON MAY 17 DAVE NAVARRO HAD HIS PREMIER FOR "SPREAD ENTERTAINMENT" AT THE DRAgONFLY IN L.A., WHICH AIRED ON "MANIATV.COM" AND KHZ WAS HIS GUEST ARTIST! HOW DID YOU FIRST COME INTO CONTACT WITH NAVARRO?

Raiana: We met Dave on Myspace and he asked us to enter his "indie artist of the month" contest on his personal radio station "www.spreadradiolive.com" we never enter contests but we felt this was special so we did it and won. After that we became friends with Dave, when he was launching his TV show and asked us to be the musical guest on the first episode, we were beyond flattered.

MUEN: WHAT SONG DID YOU PERFORM, AND WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO DO IT ACOUSTICALLY? I THINK YOU ALSO MENTIONED THAT IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THE SONG WAS DONE ACOUSTICALLY? SO HOW'D THAT GO?

Raiana: We performed the song "Remember When" off of our new album coming out fall 2007. Dave wanted to do something intimate for the first show so we all thought a special "Stripped Down" version of this song would be perfect. It was the first time anyone outside the band heard that song, it went great and we loved the outcome when we saw it back.

MUEN: EVEN THOUGH YOU PERFORMED OFTEN IN 2006... ARE YOU PLANNING ON ANYMORE TOURING FOR THE SUPPORT OF "REALITY ON A FINER SCALE?"

Raiana: At this point we are focusing on the new album and will begin playing again and touring much more once it is finished.

MUEN: RAIANA, DO YOU WRITE ALL THE "LYRICS" YOURSELF? OR DO OTHERS CONTRIBUTE TO THAT PART OF THE SONG AS WELL?

Raiana: Yes, I write pretty much all of them myself. Once in a while Pull and I will work out something together since I write in journal form and sometimes have trouble fitting what I want in song form, so he helps me with that when needed. The song "Broken" was written with a friend Hugo Fernandez.

MUEN: WHAT INSPIRED THE SONG "IT'S YOURS?" CAN YOU GIVE US ANY DETAILS ON FROM WHERE THIS SONG DERIVED?

Raiana: The song is about frustration and it comes from being frustrated by the birth of "Reality TV". Hence the albums name and "It's yours" being the first song on the record. The song is basically rambling off the things that people have done either on or in the name of Reality TV and the quest for their 5 minutes of fame. Most people confuse that cursing is a sign of anger, it's a sign of frustration.

MUEN: SANAZ IS IN YOUR TOP FRIENDS.... BEING WE ARE SORT OF FOCUSING ON HER THIS SUMMER BECAUSE OF HER AWESOME SUPPORT OF GETTING GREAT BANDS MORE KNOWN.... WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON HER EFFORTS?

Raiana: What she is doing is amazing and a tremendous help to bands like us. Most people don't realize, that not only does she not get paid for this but she has no other motive than her love of music and her desire for it to be heard, especially by those who are affected by music as deeply as she is. She is doing this purely out of love and she works so hard to help whoever she can. Very unique and beautiful person. She has done a lot to help with what kHz has going on right now.

MUEN: WHAT PART OF THE MUSIC BUSINESS DO YOU FIND THE MOST DIFFICULT?

Raiana: How poorly it is run

MUEN: WHAT DO YOU "MOST LIKE" ABOUT IT ALL?

Raiana: We don't like any of the music business part, it is the playing and writing music that matters most to us.

MUEN: WHAT IS YOUR MAIN FOCUS GOING TO BE FOR THE SUMMER, WITH REGARDS TO KHZ?

Raiana: Finishing the new album.

MUEN: ARE THERE ANY NEW RECORDINGS THAT ARE NOT ON "REALITY ON A FINER SCALE"? AS IF 15 SONGS WERE NOT ENOUGH, HAHA, BUT WAS WONDERING IF THERE ARE SAVED TRACKS FOR THE NEXT ALBUM?

Raiana: There were about 20 songs that did not make it to ROAFS, none of those are on the new album.

MUEN: DO YOU FEEL THAT THERE IS A MUSIC REVOLUTION GOING ON? WOULD YOU CALL IT A REVOLUTION? OR WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON THE TYPE OF BANDS THAT ARE EMERGING AND GAINING REAL FANS OFF MYSPACE AND THE INTERNET IN GENERAL?

Raiana: We do not see any music revolution going at all. We don't pay a whole lot of attention to what everyone else is doing so we don't have much of a view on it.

MUEN: IF YOU COULD IMAGINE WHAT THE "NEXT" KHZ ALBUM WILL BE LIKE (OR IF YOU ALREADY KNOW..), AFTER "REALITY ON A FINER SCALE"..... HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT?

Raiana: More!

MUEN: WHO HELPED PRODUCE THE GREAT VIDEOS KHZ PUTS OUT? AND ARE THESE SAME VIDEOS ALSO AVAILABLE ON THE "REALITY ON A FINER SCALE" DISC?

Raiana: Pull directs and Edits all the videos himself. Our friend Theo Brown is the DP on every video. The video for "It's Yours" is on the ROAFS album the rest will be available on DVD in fall 2007.

MUEN: AND SO THE NAME OF THE BAND MEANS?

Raiana: kHz stands for kilohertz, a frequency. the name means being connected, everyone being on the same frequency at the same time.
