SM: What’s up fella’s how’s the music making coming along?
HW: Deep from the heart, I think everything in my life runs and is projected from the deepest of me. Sometimes it looks like I have a unlimited studio in my mind regarding music and so everything comes so naturally. I think the hardest task for a songwriter in every musical style is to construct also the Bridge from the innermost of his-self to the " outside " world. Nowadays we feel more mature, experienced and at the same time more musical than ever.
SM: After reading your guys bio, your music style has changed quite a few times, from heavy death metal to gothic, what’s the material like now threw all the music changes you’ve been threw as a band?
HW: If we want to develop we must use a kind of " order to chaos and chaos to order " in music too! I feel a lot influenced from my lifestyle, relationships or even more than musical influences. I preferred to follow the senses and maybe that’s why you may notice what some call " evolution ". I think the fans point of view towards our music depends also in their state of mind, the trick is to get everyone in the same frequency of feelings. Just think on that! For me music is a state of mind collecting the past, the present and the future.
SM: Well on that, do you think people stereo type music so much that its even harder for bands to prove there music is different?
HW: Sometimes i feel like some bands are not playing what they really like and isted of it they look for " the holy grail " outside in the Labels, in the Media or even in what almost everyone is earing..can i name it Fashion Music ? The quest is to do somethng special with all the elements in this musical universe once there are som many Musical Clones that even make a big mess in the brains of everyone. I think there is much more " competition " also, everyone easly can have acess to the best stuff to work money can buy but the most special thing you can..t afford with money.
SM: That’s awesome to hear you guys have been featured in magazine such as METAL HAMMER, TERRORIZER Magazine, since then have you been featured in any other magazine?
HW: It was wonderful when a band from Portugal has so many excellent reviews, considered a revelation for many and the most impressive for us is that after all this year many fans still love the music we made in both albums ( Diva and Swallow ).
We have been promoting the new advanced songs in many radio shows around the world and some interviews also in magazines and websites dedicated to the Metal scene.
SM: You guys actually disappeared for a while, during that time did you have any doubts about the music, did you ever think to call it quits?
HW: Nice one! For me it looked like " frozen in time ". I have been following some bands career and many released " crappy " albums till they find themselves musically again. It’s a process. I believe if we released a third album in 2000 after SWALLOW success that wouldn’t be a good effort for us once everyone was waiting and demanding a better release. The band wasn’t happy with many things in the metal music scene and market that’s true, we optioned to stand-by till we feel there was a good time to strike again. Do you think David Lynch or Ridley Scott need to release a movie in every two years ? No, we want to make art and be respected and rewarded in may ways from our work regarding the burocratical music scene.
SM: So looks now you guys have no record label! Are you guys looking at any some you might want to get signed too?
HW: The music business changed a lot in the politics of editions and distribution. We are looking for something fair and equal for both parts, that’s the way for a good relationship in every sense from personal to professional!
In the bands scene no, the road to something better is the same, I think it misses some " soul " in lot’s of newer bands. They have everything from great Guitars, great Amps, great Studios but something is missing...
SM: Something is missing, well what tips would you give some of the new coming bands about music and writing?
HW: Mostly to Guitarplayers just think with both hands and not with the left one only. work your musical personality as you do in your own personal life. Listen to the roots of the Metal and general music scene and most important of all Believe in yourself and the capacities you have to be " one of a kind "
SM: Is there any plans for a U.S. tour?
HW: Although we got some invitations we can’t plan it for now, not while the new record isn’t finished and released. We played two gigs in Portugal just to check the band and a gift also to old an new fans. At this moment its a lot of working. And hard to achieve our main goals!
SM: That’s awesome!, best of luck on the up coming album and hopefully soon I get to see you guys live.
Thanks Steph!
Send musical hugs to the Team!
