MUEN: HELLO DELI JUICE, WHAT'S THE LATEST?

DELI JUICE: At the moment we are busy with new songs, rehearsing them at the place where we practice in Rotterdam, Netherlands. We got a lot of new songs: "No more fighting," "Never Stop Rocking," "U Dun Me Wrong," "Rebel Revolution," "Working Day Blues," and "Allright". At the moment we just have almost 40 minutes of songs we play. So we are working on the setlist and on the dynamics of the songs. Besides this we are working on a demo with 4 songs on it, to be sent to the booking agencys, music centres, and radio stations.

MUEN: WHAT DO YOU LABEL YOUR MUSIC AS, AND DO YOU PLAY IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE EVER?

DELI JUICE: We only play our own songs. We play different music styles. The most songs we play are semi-acoustic - a mix of americana, indie, pop and groove. We have our own style I guess, don't know what you'd call it. Maybe Deli Groove! Kind of like Crossroad Jive, Love Version2 and Call of the Wild. The song "New Beginning" is more indie style. Then we got some ballads and some heavier stuff also. We played 6 times live and it was really great. And we were invited to play live/unplugged on air on a local radio station. That was awesome! On gigs it's strange to see how people having a good time with music they actually have never heard. Really love it. For myself I don't like the lamps in my eyes, so you cannot see the audience. Really like to see the people, you know, having eye-contact with them. Those 6 gigs were not gigs for many people (in between 30 and 80 people) (except for the festival gig, there were a lot more people). We also go to open mics to try out new songs for audiences. We got a wonderful place here in Rotterdam named Irish Pup O Sheas at the Lijnbaan, every day live music.

MUEN: WHO IS ALL IN THE BAND AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER?

DELI JUICE: The band is Rick on guitar and singer/songwriter, Sabina singing, Ren on Bass guitar, Mark on Percussion, Djembee and drums. We also have a couple of what we call home-musicians, who can substitute or play along. Jeffrey plays drums on the 2 songs on myspace (Crossroad Jive and New Beginning), and there's this singer/songwriter Jim (an American from Los Angeles living in Rotterdam)... he has some great songs. He played along with us at 2 gigs and it was really fun.

MUEN: WHAT IS THE MUSIC SCENE LIKE WHERE YOU ARE AT?

DELI JUICE: Well it's mainly the indie music scene and then the singer/songwriter scene. Our music is somewhere in-between. There's no Americana or groovemusic kinda scene here in Rotterdam.

MUEN: WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES WITH DELI JUICE? WHAT IS IT YOU MOST WANT TO ACCOMPLISH IN THE FUTURE?

DELI JUICE: Our hope is that the songs will be heard by a whole lot of people. They really deserve to be listened to all the way. And We hope a Record label in the Netherlands, Belgium or maybe somewhere else will help and support us to make our own records/cd's. We are all working people. So our dream is to be free, to spend much more time with (making) music. Yeah and we hope to play a lot of gigs in the nearby future. Especially, we love to be invited to play at festivals. It's really awesome. And ofcourse we hope people enjoy our music.
