"KING OF ALL BADASSES"
DAVE EVANS
FOUNDER AND FIRST SINGER
FOR AC/DC

Interview by AngelDevil

MUEN: Hi Dave, how are you? Welcome to MUEN Magazine

Dave: Thank you!

MUEN: Congratulations, you have gotten signed to "Destroy All Records" on September 5th! Can you tell us how the meeting happened? What will happen now, besides "The Sinner's" distribution?

Dave: My management, Heart Attack Enterprises in Houston, Texas, was introduced to DA Records (Destroy All Records) by friends in radio here in the USA after I did an interview where I mentioned that I was looking for a USA label to take my album SINNER. DA Records listened to my music and shortly after I signed with them. My management and my new label are working on plans to tour me in the USA and in Europe.

MUEN: Tell me something about your past: did you always dream to be a rock singer? When did you realize that you could earn money in this way?

Dave: I have always sang from the time I was a small boy as my father was on stage in local town productions singing and acting and the whole family would sing at home. I sang at school concerts growing up and did not really think about being in a band as my father was an amateur performer, although a wonderful singer, and I was expected to find a trade or a profession of some sort. I was asked by some friends to join their band as even though I was just 17 years of age, I was known as a good singer and I accepted. The band was known as IN SESSION and I received a lot of praise so I left the small country town and headed to Sydney to try to make it on my own as the rest of the band decided to stay with their jobs.

MUEN: What do you feel when people are talking about Dave Evans as the first AC/DC singer? What about the relationship you have with the band now?

Dave: It is part of my professional pedigree and I am honoured to be one of the five founding members of AC/DC. This is now a part of history but I have my own music and the fans know that I rock !!! I have seen some of the other past members of the band including original drummer, Colin Burgess, Neil Smith a former bass player and Mark Evans (no relation to me) who was bass player with AC/DC after my departure. I have not spoken to either of the Young Brothers, who are the only two original members, since 1975 when we met at big outdoor festival that my band at the time, RABBIT, and AC/DC where both bands were appearing. The Young brothers still seem to hold a grudge after over 30 years but I got over it as soon as I joined RABBIT shortly after AC/DC.

MUEN: You know, I do love your songs, and Sinner is just an amazing album. What does it represent to you?

Dave: SINNER is an album that represents a certain attitude of NEVER SAY DIE, of RESOLUTENESS, of LIFES REFLECTION, of THE ROCK WAY OF LIFE and just great KICK ASS ROCK !! I was privileged to work on the album with some of the greatest rock players in Australia

MUEN: What are your inspirations that help you to write songs?

Dave: Every song means something personal to me and I take inspiration from past and present experiences plus by gazing into the crystal ball for events and situations that may happen from consequences of the past and present. Most of all each song must tell a specific story that the listeners can understand and hopefully relate to.

MUEN: What song is closest to your personality?

Dave: They are all a part of my personality as each person's personality is complex.

MUEN: Between your music projects that you had, like Rabbit, Thunder Down Under, Hot Cockerel, which album is the best one for you?

Dave: I like each album for what it represented to me at that particular time so at the moment SINNER is my choice.

MUEN: I can't get enough of your voice and the great power you give us. What do you do to keep it at this level?

Dave: I try to keep as fit as I can to maintain power and try to eat and drink as healthy as possible to give maximum energy.

MUEN: Would you say that theres more freedom in rock music today than the past?

Dave: There was more freedom in the past as each band had it's own distinct sound and style and the music public was never bored with the choice of music from their collection. Nowadays most different genre's of music sound exactly the same and is boring to the extreme. Most Record labels are not into taking risks and churn out the same sounding bands, whether metal or rap or hip hop.

MUEN: What does playing hard rock mean to you after a long time?

Dave: SEX, POWER, EXTREME EMOTIONAL RELEASES and a great feeling of WELL BEING and SATISFACTION after each show.

MUEN: What else can we expect from Dave Evans in the future, what are your plans?

Dave: I have nearly enough new material for a new kick ass album and I am working on that as well as looking forward to touring again soon.

MUEN: What do you do in your free time?

Dave: I listen to different types of music, reading, good restaurants and exploring new places as I am an avid tourist when I get the chance.

MUEN: What would you wanna do at this moment of your life to realize yourself?

Dave: I am always looking forward to my next performance and my next audience to rock hard with together. This is the love of my life and my passion.

MUEN: We're done, thank you for your availability. Do you want to say something more?

Dave: LONG LIVE ROCK !!!!
