Stumbling across THE CHEYENNE DOLL just days ago, I found myself fixed, and immediately mesmerized by the haunting vocal spewing out the ballad "Blood On My Hand"... a little reluctant at first... almost haunted by the wording, as the song is so much a wound, and crying out, and a reflection in so many ways those who try and use control to get what they want... The following interview is just a casual conversation more or less with a songwriter/vocalist by the name of Mel who is (in my opinion) gifted far more than she even realizes. I'm becoming more and more aware of the outstanding talent and exceptional artists often coming from areas like France...

MUEN: I THOUGHT YOU HAD A SHOW TONITE, IT WAS ON YOUR CALENDAR, NO?

CHEYENNE DOLL: No, I ain't got no show tonight... or if you're talking about the questions? I haven't recieved nothing.. I'm waiting for bloody kisses!

MUEN: OK HERE'S YOUR BLOODY KISSES.. DO YOU CURRENTLY HAVE A BAND, OR ARE YOU SOLO, AND USING DIFFERENT MUSICIANS FOR RECORDING?

CHEYENNE DOLL: No, Cheyenne Doll is a full band, and I compose all the songs... I'm working alot for this project for the moment. I'm talking about business, and meeting a lot of people to find a good production contract and everything around the music...

MUEN: DO YOU PLAY ANY INSTRUMENTS? OR DO YOU ONLY SING? HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT THE SONGWRITING PROCESS? AND WHAT EXACTLY INSPIRED THE SONG "BLOOD ON MY HANDS"?

CHEYENNE DOLL: I play piano, so I make all songs with the piano and after that, I record in a computer a pre-production... after I go to check the songs with my musicians, we work together... With the song "Blood On My Hand" ... you know, when I composed this song, it started from two chords.. I put the lyrics in after I see the direction and hear the song in my head, that's all! But I think for my inspirations about it, I'd have to say it comes from "Tool." ...But you know, I'm composing "Blood On My Hand" (Part 2) for the album 'cause maybe we will record this summer in London.

MUEN: WILL THIS ALBUM BE YOUR DEBUT, OR NO?

CHEYENNE DOLL: No I've record 2 albums before, but it was more blues rock since 7 years with my brother...

MUEN: HOW OLD ARE YOU? AND WHEN DID YOU FIRST START PLAYING PIANO, AND WRITING SONGS ANYWAYS?

CHEYENNE DOLL: Now I'm 29 years old and when my first band was over, I started to play piano and began composing - I think I've been playing piano for 5 years now 'cause in my first band I composed with my brother and he composed the music and my melodies and lirics... but I started music when I was 13 years old in an aggressive punk band .....

MUEN: HOW MANY ORIGINAL SONGS DO YOU HAVE? AND DO YOU PLAY OUT LIVE THERE IN FRANCE AT ALL?

CHEYENNE DOLL: For the moment I've got 25 songs that are finshed, but I must choose 12 for the album and I think after that I will make a second accoustic album style "classical dark " style I hope!! For the moment I play in my town alone with my piano 'cause I must pay my travels to continue this project... well! 'cause I need a tour for the band all around the world..., I've got a lot of contacts and maybe this winter CHEYENNE DOLL will start a big tour!

MUEN: YEAH! A TOUR WOULD BE GOOD! DO YOU HAVE ANY DESIRE TO DO SHOWS IN THE US?

CHEYENNE DOLL: YES I hope to make concerts in U.S. 'cause when I said all around the world I'm talking about everywhere!! And I hope so much that I have a contact in New York, but for the moment I still wait for a lot of answers, but it's a dream to play in U.S.!

MUEN: LOVE YOUR VOICE, IT'S REALLY UNIQUE, DARK AND MYSTIC... YOU SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF POTENTIAL! AND I THINK WOULD BE VERY WELL LIKED HERE IN THE US!

CHEYENNE DOLL: Thanks for your support!! It's realy cool!! You know I play what I am!! ...honestly...

MUEN: WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO, OTHER THAN MUSIC?

CHEYENNE DOLL: I'm a professional dancer, but without music I die - so for the moment... I drink , I eat , I dream; and live just for Cheyenne Doll so maybe I will give you an answer in 1 year! Sorry!

MUEN: WHAT IS THE MUSIC SCENE LIKE IN YOUR SURROUNDING AREA? ANY OTHER GOOD BANDS OR ARITISTS YOU'D LIKE TO MENTION? OR WHAT DO YOU LISTEN TO?

CHEYENNE DOLL: I listen to classical and rock music, but for the moment I listen so much to NICK CAVE ,TORIE AMOS, BOB DYLAN, but as you know everytime it changes... I love dark and melancolic music - I'm talking about singer emotions , but I lost a lot of bands...... I''m a big fan about metal music like PANTERA, TOOL .... I don't know now... it's realy hard to remember all of your favorit artists..... I hope my answers was good for you?
