Lots of snow!
It's always a good idea to go prepared. There's nothing worse than getting in a jam on the trail and not having the right tool to get you out. Here you can see a shovel, hi-lift jack, two 25' tow ropes, two pairs of rubber boots, and two tool kits (one of them is not visible.) Here we stopped to help some guys from Farragut High School fix a busted brake line on their Jeep.
The Forrest Green Machine really came through on this trip. It performed flawlessly, going over stuff like what you see above without hesitation.
Gavin has made some major improvements on his Jeep. He's done the spring over, adding almost 8 inches of lift. He's also put on a Warn 9500i Thermometric winch. We got to see this thing in action later on.
Here I am trudging through a frozen pond. Gavin went through ahead of me, breaking up all the ice.
Once again the rover pulls through. Normally this would be considered easy, but with 5" of snow, it's a whole new ballgame.
This was by far the hardest spot of the day. Mud, ice and snow made going up trail 6 (rated moderate) interesting to say the least.
