February 2004
In February Wendy Scott, F. L.O for Leicestershire spoke on the large hoard found at Market Harborough. Her talk illustrated with slides showed this hoard is likely to rewrite the chronology of inscribed coinage in the East Midlands. The hoard which was previously reported, holds many coins which were classed as rare but now due to the quantity found this is no longer the case. Many coins are still with the British Museum being extracted from the blocks of earth just as they were lifted from the ground. Until all the coins are examined we will not know the significance or the value of this amazing hoard.
