As ships' Lightener, I am required to make sure that lamps and lanterns aboard ship are in serviceable condition, always filled with oil, and wicks are trimmed. I must also light all lanterns aboard ship at dusk and snuff them at dawn. I make sure that stores of necessary items pertaining to the proper lighting of the ship are procured.
