Marquette Baseball Club?
The Marquette Baseball Club is the only organized baseball team representing Marquette University in intercollegiate competition. Although not a varsity sport, Marquette Baseball is highly competitive. It is on par with many NCAA DIII and NAIA schools in the Midwest region.
Club baseball is a non-varsity sport not recognized by the NCAA or NAIA. Many major universities such as Marquette do not carry varsity baseball because of Title IX regulations or athletic budget restrictions. However, this does not necessarily mean an inferior brand of baseball. Marquette routinely plays and beats NCAA DIII, NAIA and NJCAA baseball programs. Marquette also plays many club teams from large state schools who have funding and a large talent pool to select a team from. The major difference between a club and varsity program is funding. Marquette can not offer scholarships and must raise necessary funds for uniforms, equipment, travel, fields and umpires.
The Marquette Baseball Club is a member of the National Club Baseball Association. Marquette is in the Western Lakes Conference with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Marquette plays non-conference club teams such as Northwestern, Depaul, Loyola, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and University of Illinios.. Marquette also plays games against varsity programs such as Waukesha Tech, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee Area Technical College, and Lakeland.
Marquette University is a private Catholic university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marquette is an accredited Jesuit institution of higher learning. Marquette's campus sits in downtown Milwaukee just one mile from Lake Michigan.
The Marquette Baseball Club holds two tryouts each year in early September and January. The average roster size is 20-25 players. Anyone is encouraged to try out regardless of ability. Tryouts consist of basic fielding and hitting and throwing for pitchers. Do not be discouraged if you do not make the team immediately. Just keep trying out. Contact the Marquette Baseball Club at [email protected] for more information.
Because the Marquette Baseball Club is non-varsity, funds are limited. Anything from fiscal donations to old equipment would be welcome. Marquette Baseball encourages any merchant, organization, coach or private sponsor to be a part of our highly competitive program. In exchange for your generosity Marquette Baseball would list you as a valuable sponosr on its web site, game day brochures, and baseball camp handouts and T-shirts. Since Marquette Baseball is a 501(C) non-profit organization, any fiscal donatipn would yield a tax exemption..
Because Marquette Baseball represents a Jesuit university, it is important that is gives back to the community. That's why Marquette University is working toward conducting two baseball clinics for Milwaukee-area youth every year. Marquette Baseball also volunteers time to help with Marquette-sponsored community service projects as the National Youth Sports Program, the Briggs-Stratton Run, and Hunger Cleanup.

What does a typical week look like, and how often does MU Baseball practice?
A typical week for Marquette Baseball involves practicing 3-4 times a week, with about 2-5 games per week.  The seasons last about 2 months, with an additional month or so of practice/ tryouts.  We practice for about an hour and a half to two hours at a time.  Though there is a time commitment to the baseball team, it is not an incredible commitment that will keep you from pursuing other interests at Marquette.
