| En Casa (Home work) 1. Select a Latino/Hispanic person to study. Choosing one you have never heard of or know VERY little about will be a CHALLENGE for a true CHAMP!. There is a list on the Grade 7 Spanish Web Page. You may also use a book, newspaper or other reliable resource. 2. LEE, read about their accomplishments, struggles, personality, and circumstances. Really get to know the person. What did they do to become MEMORABLE? Highlight important information as you read. 3. Turn your paper to "landscape" layout. In your own words, in English, list the answers to the questions QUIEN, QUE, CUANDO, DONDE, POR QUE Y COMO "who, what, when, where, why and how". Short phrases are acceptable. A SORPRESA category will show the facts that surprised you. See the sample below. Bring this outline to the next Spanish class. It will be stamped for credit. (10 pts.) En Clase (Class work) (15 pts) 4. I will edit this version of information while you make the 'center' of your project, a 'doll' figure to symbolize your person. Remember the Chinese example shown in class? It must represent your person, be colorful and effort must be clear. 5. SPANISH requirements for final print out: (25 pts) ALL of the following are in Espanol. Other content may be in English unless it is vocabulary your know in Spanish. The more Spansih, the better! Check them off as you create: ___title of project, stands out and hooks audience to know more! ___question word titles stand out from the rest of text (see handout for these) ___a dicho (you may choose one from the list or other) ___three virtues to describe this person. ___"SORPRESAS" what surprised you about this person? ___ a text box with special information-English is OK. Could be a symbol, an image, sketch or other ___spelling, grammar and punctuation in English and Spanish count! En Casa o en Clase de Computacion (50pts) 7. When the edited version is returned to you, you will word process using your AWESOME computer skills to create the final version, adding color, images, text and any other appropriate background and designs. You will also create the "back" design. Spelling, punctuation, and grammar are IMPORTANTE! Effort must be clear. These two pages will be printed back to back in color to make one page and then laminated with the image of your center piece. 8. Small group presentations: A time to practice sharing what you have learned with an audience that just can't wait to hear what you know! You can make a POWERFUL difference in our world. (it can add the + to your final grade!) Relax, have fun, you will learn so much, see with new eyes and appreciate the people who have contributed to making our lives much more comfortable.
