Tammy's Quilt Page
One of my most favorite things in life is quilting.
I started in earnest in 1993 after dabbling in it from childhood.  My grandmother pieced quilt tops and made afghans from as far back as I can remember. She was my inspiration and still is even though she's gone on now.
I'm still working on this page....the pictures are old so I need to retake them with my digital...
This BowTie quilt I began when I was 13 years old.  I got frustrated and put it away in the Ben Franklin bag where I bought the fabric.  When I quit my job as a bank teller in 93 just before my daughter was born, my mother (who saved the Ben Franklin Bag) gave it back to me and said "try again".
So I did and boy did that start something!  I piece it in a few days.  What a rush!  Later it was the first quilt I actually quilted
.
As time went on I began to collect fabic and patterns.  I had a blast picking out color schemes and imagining my next project.  Althought my grandmother pieced she didn't so much quilting so she had most of hers quilted by someone else.  Now that I had 5 or six tops completed I knew I'd never afford to have them all quilted so I asked Santa for quilting frames.  Meanwhile one of Santa's elves snatched my Maple Leaf top and had it quilted.  I got both the frames and the finished BowTie that year.
This is a Card Trick quilt top.  I haven't started to quilt it yet because it's HUGE.  I know it will be a long long time to the finish line one I start.
This is my second quilt, a nine patch.  You may not be able to see but there is a pretty ribbon and bows pattern quilted in the borders.  This took me over a year to complete.  It's simple but I think it turned out beautifully.
This beauty is still just a top.  It's Grandmother's Fan.  My grandmother like to do lap quilting and tried to teach me.  Long story short, I just ended up sewing the squares together to ususal way, and it, too, is not quilted.  It's peach and peach prints on with ivory sashing and background.  This is one of my favorite blocks.  I can say it will be a long time til I try mitered corners again.....
