Crow has to be near the top of the list of wild game animals that people cringe on when we tell them that we eat them. Although many people that have tried it really love it. We had numerous requests to bring it to a recent game feed that we attended because it was a hit last year.
Well first of all you will what to shoot some crows which is a pleasure in itself. You will then need to breast them out. The breasts are fairly large I believe about 2-4 breasts per person is reasonable. The rest of the ingredients are few although additional things can be added to suit.
* Barbecue sauce (your favorite kind)
* Onion (the amount is up to you, I personally like them)
* Black pepper, chopped green or reds could be used also
First slow cook the crow breasts in a crock pot or oven. I use a crock pot and place the temperature on low for about 5-6 hours.
Take them out and let cool. If you haven't already separated the breast off the bone before cooking, pull the meat off and put it in a cooking pan. Add enough BBQ sauce to cover all the meat. Add chopped onions (and/or chopped peppers). Place on stove top on medium heat and let simmer about 20-30 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add some black pepper. Some water can be added if it appears to start to dry out. Now eat! Don't worry about the West Nile Virus it should have been killed in all that cooking.
