How to create Successful Band Website
6) Concert or Live Pictures: This is totally separate from the photo (promo) page. With all the digital cameras out there this is a great way to show your group. Tips: a) Don't take pictures of an empty club. b) Get at least one decent picture of everyone in the group. c) Avertise and promote your site by letting people know that these pictures will appear on the site. (pass out cards if you got them!)
7) Link page: This should be full of links of buisnesses and groups that have and will help your group out. a) Bars and Clubs that you have played at or would like to play. b) Music Stores that may provide discounts or favors for your advertisment. c) Other Bands that you associate with, this can be a valuable asset especially if you need someone to fill, a replacement or a gig. Plus the other band can put you on there site.
8) Concerts, gigs, performances: Keep it basic and simple, a) place (name, address & city) b) date c) time start/finish { optional but important: } d) phone number of club e) Map with directions f) cover charge ? g) website of club (if available) h) drink or food specials
9) The "Guestbook": can be a great way to PR your group. The one thing that I noticed most guestbooks are not current. Sometimes the last message was made several months ago. Here's some tips to keep it current. a) You or other members of the band write something! b) encourage others to write, friends, family etc. c) make it up! Use an anonomous ID and write about how kick ass the band is, no one has to know it's you! :-) d) insult people make some friendly comments about the show
If you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to e-mail me. I'm always willing to listen. Thank, Mat
10) Register your band on as many search engines, Rock websites and webzines as possible! Update your site regularly. I'd say at least once a week add or change something.
