It's Tuesday morning.. just got to work.. my eyes are still sore from the tears I shed for the great times that are now memories, the goodbyes.. and the thought that I am back in bloody hell Jacksonville!!!! I already miss you all but I have my mouse pad here in front of me to look at until March 2003.. So 'To all the ones Pico loved before'.. please mark it on your calenders.. Thanks alot, Maha.. you have just made me cry again. 'Jetlagged'... great explanation to my colleagues at work for my sore eyes.. I can't believe we are back to reality. I enjoyed the company of each one of you.. But I could have done with a few more days.. Marios, thank you for not giving up on me when I almost gave up on the idea of joining this reunion back in April.. You took the liberty of booking our flights and putting up with all the headache that came with it on our behalf, so we could make it. Pico, you were the star of the show.. | Dear Marios, A HUGE thank you again for arranging our 2nd NES reunion. I'm so glad you decided to do it again after our first meet and now you have changed your mind, yet again (you are beginning to be remind me of a woman), about arranging or being involved in the 3rd NES reunion. Hopefully this time it will be in my part of the world and you will feel the effects of the jetlag as opposed to myself. Free days was most welcome this year even though we all still managed to go to dinner together. We can't seem to get enough of each other whilst we are together. However I would have been happy to have been told about our "trekking" of the island which you conveniently managed to forget to mention in your "program", wonder why?!! I'm surprised nobody suggested that we go to Nepal next year and try our hand at Mount Everest!! I'm sure the taxi drivers will remember us from years to come as the "middle-aged group" whom were always telling them to slow down. I had one taxi driver tell me that since he drove back and forth between Skiathos town and the Skiathos Palace Hotel at least 30 times a day he could do it with his eyes closed, whereupon I conveniently told him to "keep his fucking eyes open this time, or else", had us almost shitting bricks. An experience I won't forget. However the best was Leena and Salah whom experienced almost the same with their taxi driver whereupon the taxi driver's tyre punctured and I think he, the taxi driver, realized that God (at least that's what Leena says, being that I am an atheist) had a hand in this and he should have slowed down. | Hello all, By now I hope everyone has managed to get over their Jet lag, and adrenalin high thanks to a remarkable event (no drugs know to man could have ever delivered the same effect). Mario and Pico, you guys pulled it off, a standing ovation from all I'm sure. You not only managed to organize this from scratch, but made sure you dedicated the time for everyone and their individual needs despite the fact that YOU TOO were on vacation. For me I got everything I could ever have wished for, to meet all the people, and you gave me a chance of a life time to re-live my youth. This has definitely placed a happy milestone in my life! To me all the other events like the beach hopping, dinners, island visits etc where just added on bonus'. I thank you sincerely for this treasured memory, one I am sure will stay fresh in my mind for many years to come, with pictorial reminders that I can share and re-live. True friends are hard to find, you guys gave and asked nothing in return,,, well except Pico... you know the "intellectual conversation" he has been looking for !! :) PICO your the best, you nearly put me in hospital from laughing sooooo much! I miss you my friend. Mario the night out dancing followed by the hilarious taxi ride from the bowels of the earth, to watching the sun rise and finally capped of with the loving wake up calls we made to the rest of the team was priceless.. Diana you actually woke up and joined this crazy bunch by the pool, your a real sport and a trooper, well done. A couple of people may have missed their calling in life: 1: Negotiate with hotel staff in the wee hours of the morning to "deliver" coffee by the pool to a bunch of drunk (and still drinking) rabble when the restaurant was 'closed'!! 2: Unique explicit phone greetings to guests !! you guys were real cool. Imad: What can I say? your hospitality is un-surpassed, not to mention your bravery :) It was really great seeing you again, our conversation beyond the plant was stimulating :) I had a really great time at you place, the food was excellent as promised, and the evening a great success. I wish we could have had more time to talk during the week. Thanks for reading this long e-mail, I promise any future ones will be short, to EVERY ONE thanks for a great holiday you were ALL fantastic. Denis |
| Marios. Yes, I did get home safe and sound, but with the blues heavy on my heart, even now, just like most everyone, I'm sure. The first few days were spent trying to catch up on work. I've communicated a couple of e-mails with Diana and Maria. I hope that averything is okay with you and that you're back into the swing of the daily routine. I also want to add my name to the appreciation e-mails that I've been copied on for the wonderful organization that you did for this reunion, that none of us will ever forget and all of us will hold dear to our hearts. I miss everyone, and don't know if that feeling will ever wear out. I'm looking forward to keeping in touch with you and everyone else, and of course, can't wait till we all get back together again.
