| DeWayne Walker was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from Bryan Station High School and it was shortly after that, that the Lord called him into the ministry. In 1985, Brother Walker, his wife, Sandy (Weber) and their young son, Philip, left Lexington and headed North to attend college. While they were in Indiana, Sarah and David were born. Brother Walker is a graduate of Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana. Upon their return the Lord laid the city of Lexington upon the heart of Brother Walker. A group of believers were meeting in a small store front building on Waller Ave but were without a pastor. In 1991 the Lord led the group to call Brother Walker as their shepherd and that was the birthplace of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church of Lexington. From those small beginnings the Lord has abundantly showered His blessings on His faithful servants. The church is now at it's present location on Delaware Ave and is a multi-faceted ministry. A nursery is staffed for all services by ladies who will love and care for your child while you enjoy the service. We have a bus ministry for the Sunday morning services and a Van is available to pick up those needing transportation. We also have an active Soul Winning program that shares the Plan of Salvation to those who are interested. Sunday school classes for all age levels, youth choirs for all ages, an adult choir, a youth group for teenagers, summer camp and other activites are just a few of the ways you can become involved in this growing church. |
