Letter was sent to all chapter Presidents on Feb 16, 2004

The 2004 annual meeting in Madison WI has come and gone offering good fellowship and good ideas. The President, Joseph K. Dolejsi, will be reporting on it fully in his message in the April VHD magazine. The 2004 training season is upon us, a busy time for all of us. As I can see from your newsletters, many of the chapters are being very diligent in spreading the word about becoming International members. I would really like to stress again the importance and benefits of International membership.

Joining NAVHDA International offers your chapter members many benefits, including a subscription to the official monthly magazine, The Versatile Hunting Dog. The magazine has training articles, health articles, and a calendar of tests and activities along with test results and much more. International members may use the video library, order membership directories and order a booklet with test results for the year, test their dogs at the member rate and access the many member services. Each new member will receive the NAVHDA Rules, Aims and Programs booklet, a NAVHDA decal and NAVHDA brochures plus information on the NAVHDA registry.

There are International members who are not affiliated with local chapters. Chapter officers, if they wish, could contact the central office to obtain a list of International members in their area to invite them to join their chapter. In this line of thinking, we are stressing the importance of chapter contact e-mail address on the International webpage. This e-mail address gives prospective members and unaffiliated members a quick and easy way to contact your chapter. Every Chapter should have an active member’s e-mail in the contact section to field mail and answer questions. This is great chapter advertising.

In closing, I want to remind you that chapter membership / International membership go together as stated in the International bylaws, Section (7.02). Working for this goal would be a worthy cause for all chapters during the coming year. I wish all of you a good training, testing and hunting season.

Sincerely,
