My name is John Paul. I play the bodhran, or Celtic drum. I like playing this drum because of the range of tones and sound it can make, almost like a drum set, and I love ripping through a fast rhythm.
My musical background (or lack of!), started while in parochial school when I was 15, singing and performing in school plays and the French drama club. That progressed to joining the inspirational youth group "Up With People!" and performing with them for 4 years. I couldn't play other instruments because of an injury to my left arm, so this drum is ideal for me.
I love these old (some 17th century) Celtic songs, as they all have a story to tell-- especially the drinking and fighting songs!
