I just wanted to let you know how Teal is doing.  After we got Teal back home, she settled in really well.  Teal and Jasso, our Westie, get along great.  When we first got her home, Teal had to check out everything in the yard.  There is a photo attached showing Jasso following Teal around in the yard.  I started working with Teal in the back yard on scented dummies.  She did really well, but I could tell she really wanted more.  There is small public hunting area about 45 minutes from home, so I started taking her there on my days off.  She loved it!  On our third trip out, she found a covey of quail.  If I had been a better shot, I would have taken more than just one bird.  Teal retrieved the quail and had the proudest look in her eyes!  I watched where the rest of the covey went and after we finished the small patch we were working, Teal and I headed their way.  It wasn't long before Teal had picked up their scent.  Teal locked on point (just for an instant) as the covey of quail took to the air again.  This time I was ready and Teal had two more quail to retrieve.  We called it a day after those three birds and went home.  There is a photo attached with Teal and her first quail.  Teal is a great dog.  She has so much energy and drive.  I need to work with her more in getting her to hold on point longer, but it will come with time.  I didn't get to take her back to Kansas to hunt any pheasants, but next year those ring-necks better look out!

Another one our puppies is doing great in AKC Conformation events.  I just received these in the mail from the owner who wanted to share her success and excitement. Sky has already accomplished 1 major win at 6 months of age and currently has 5 points toward her championship as of April 3, 2003.  I was told that she is doing great in the field & shows alot of drive.  They have begun to run her off horseback & she keeps up with the adult dogs.  They can't wait to run her in some field events
