Junkyard Power Hacksaw
I picked up this power hacksaw at a junkyard for the princely sum of  $35. It looks as though it had been dropped, or had something dropped on it, but all the major components were there. I've slowly resurrected it, painting the parts as I've gone along. I made some changes for ease of use. The saw is a made in China item so I don't consider this a restoration, but I expect to get a functional saw out of it, and I expect it will be a better tool than those cheap bandsaws. I'll add photos and commentary as the build progresses.
After partial overhaul. I stiffened the base by welding some square tubing between the two legs. I also added locking casters to the front since the four fixed wheels it came with originally made it difficult to maneuver around the shop.
Making a hub for a junkyard pulley to replace the broken original.
I made a new stiffening brace to relace the broken original out of 1 inch square HR steel stock.
The saw is wired and finished in the shot below. I just need some blades to try it out. These have been hard to find, but I hope to have some soon, and I'll be able to give it a full test. It seems to run well, however and I'm sure it will work fine. I figure I spent a total 70 dollars on it, including the original purchase price of 35 dollars.
