Game 1: Richland (14) vs.
Manheim Township (7)
The first of two games that would be played on June 12th
started out slow. Both teams had a number of hits, scoring a couple of
runs in the first few innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning, with
Township down by 2 runs, Shawn Keller blasted a homerun to tie the game at
five. However, in the proceeding inning, Richland would attack back,
scoring multiple runs off of Manheim Township. During the entire two
innings that were left, Richland managed to knock in 9 more runs. Township
would only be able to knock in two more, and therefore lost the first of two
games.
Game 2: Manheim Township (20)
vs. Richland (3)
Jared Ellis started things off for Manheim Township by
allowing no runs to score in the first and second inning. Meanwhile,
Austin Gallagher started the game off for Township with a bang. After
breaking his bat in the preceeding game, Gallagher stepped up to the plate in
the first inning and hit a two run homerun over the right field fence.
This Homerun put Township up 2-0 in the first inning. with no outs.
The next inning, Sean Rigney would step up to the plate and knock another two
run homer for Township, advancing the score even more. Township's biggest
inning was undoubtedly the fourth inning, in which they scored five runs off of
Richland pitching. Doing the pitching for Township was Andy Dochterman
(who replaced Ellis in the fourth inning) and Austin Gallagher. Between
these three pitchers, Richland only managed to score three runs the entire
game. Township had struck back with a vengeance to take the second game by
a landslide.
