Manheim Township (2) vs.
Lititz (5)
Coming off wet weather all weekend (which also caused the
cancellation of Saturday's game against E-Town) Manheim Township was forced to
play on the Junior Varsity field, due to Westfield Insurace Park's unplayable
conditions. Township drew first blood in the bottom of the first inning,
scoring two runs. Andrelczyk would throw a shutout game for the first few
innings, until the third inning, when Lititz evened the score up at two a
piece. In the next inning, Township would strand the bases loaded, and
disappointingly scoring zero runs. In the fifth inning, Lititz
managed to knock in two more runs to put them ahead by a score of 4-2.
Township would again be unable to rally for the next few innings. In the top of
the seventh, Lititiz scored yet another run after a botched pop-up play caused
the runner on third to tag up on a very shallow pop to left field. That
would be the only runs that Lititz would score for the rest of the inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, after the two lead-off hitters both got
out. Brett Conway would be hit by a pitch to get Township a runner on
base. Dane Yoder then hit a rocket to right field. Yoder took
second base while Conway went for home, however, Conway could not beat the throw
and was out at the plate giving Township their first league loss of the
season.
