Township
(3) vs. Lancaster (1)
In the first game of the 2004 American Legion District 10 League Playoffs, Township knew they needed to start the tournament off with a win. Coming in, Township was seeded second, with Penn Manor being the only team seeded higher. Andy Dochterman started the game off for Township with a single. Austin Gallagher came up with two outs and hit a ball that knocked in the first run of the game. After one inning of play Township was leading by a score of 1-0. Doing the pitching for MT was Alex Sota, who allowed no runs to score in six full innings. Township tacked another run on in the second inning when Jared Ellis scored on a passed ball. Township scored no more runs during the next three innings, until finally in the sixth, Dane Yoder hit a solo homerun to put Township ahead by a score of 3-0. With three outs remaining on Lancaster's last chance to catch up, Lancaster's second basemen Rey Ortiz hit a double to put a runner in scoring position. Ortiz reached third base on an error and would score on a wild pitch. However, Lancaster scored no more runs, giving Township the win and a position in the winner's bracket of the League Playoffs. Township will play Hempfield Thursday, July 15th at 7:30. Full bracket can be viewed HERE .
