Township
(14)
vs. Hempfield (9)
Hempfield started the game off with a double in the first inning, which would lead to a run scoring. Andy Dochterman lead off the game for MT with a single. Andrew Smoker followed up with a single of his own, putting runners on first and third. Shawn Keller then ripped a triple, scoring both Dochterman and Smoker. Jared Ellis followed with a double, scoring Keller. During the entire first inning, Township struck back at Hempfield scoring four runs, making the score 4-1 after 1 inning of play. The second inning proved more productive for Township. George Eager lead off the inning with a double. Andy Dochterman stepped to the plate again and hit a single, however, Eager held up at third. Austin Gallagher then hit a single of his own to knock in Eager. Andrew Smoker followed with yet another single just in time for Shawn Keller to hit another double, scoring two runs. Keller would then take home on an overthrow. Yet another overthrow by Hempfield allowed Josh Bucher to score. Township had scored six runs in the second inning, advancing their lead to 10-1 after two innings. Hempfield began to show signs of life in the fourth inning, when a two-run homerun was hit. However, those would be the only two runs to score that inning. Township started off another good inning in the fourth when consecutive singles by Dane Yoder and Mike Thatcher put runners on first and third. Brett Conway then walked to load the bases. Tom DeLellis also drew a walk, causing another run to score. Pete Andrelczyk reached first on the third basemen's error, which allowed the second run of the inning to cross the plate. Andrew Smoker then came to the plate and hit a single, scoring two more runs. Township knocked in four more runs that inning, to bring the score to 14-3 in after four innings of play. Hempfield began to slowly creep up on Township in the sixth inning, when Jared Ellis (who relieved Yoder) gave up 5 runs. However, this would be the closest Hempfield would get to catching Township, due to Pete Andrelczyk's close in the seventh inning, where he allowed no runs to score.
