(0) vs. Penn Manor (1)

This game would be a very big game for both teams.  Township needed a win to secure yet another league victory and to leave the rest of the teams in their division trailing way behind. Penn Manor still had to prove that they were the team that beat Hempfield in the High School season to win their division.  With that being said, both teams had their aces on the mound.  Township started Pete Andrelczyk, while Penn Manor started Phil Texter.  Throughout 5 entire innings of play, both teams were not able to secure any runs.  In the top of the sixth inning, with two outs and a runner on first, Township shortstop Jared Ellis committed an error to put Penn Manor runners on first and second base.  Andrelczyk walked the next batter to load the bases.  PM's next batter blooped a single, which would score the first runner, but Dane Yoder's throw nailed the second runner out at the plate.  The damage was already done and Penn Manor had struck first and secured a 1-0 lead with the game coming dangerously close to an end.  In the sixth inning, with two outs for MT, Jared Ellis hit a ball that the right fielder failed to catch, causing him to advance to second base.  Ellis then stole third.  However, he would not be able to score this inning.  Andrelczyk's pitching  shut down Penn Manor in the top of seventh.  In the bottom of the seventh, MT had one more chance to at least tie the game.  With one out and a runner on first base, Andy Dochterman hit a single to left field.  However, Andrew Smoker would hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the game and give MT only their second loss in league play.
