Manheim
Township
(6) vs.
Cocalico (3)
After over an hour of downpouring rain, the chances seemed bleak of any game being played. However, the sun would come out and dry up the rain enough for a baseball game to be played. Dane Yoder took the mound for Manheim Township and started the game off with undesirable results. Yoder walked two and hit two batters in the first inning to advance two runners to home. This gave Cocalico a lead of 2-0 going into the bottom of the first inning. Township would be unable to retaliate in their half of the first inning, scoring 0 runs and stranded 2 men on base. Cocalico would add more damage in the top of the second, when a bad throw to first base caused a runner to score. The bottom of the second inning would also prove undesirable for Township, who scored no runs in that inning, stranded Josh Bucher on base. Cocalico's scoring was halted in the third inning. Subsequently, Cocalico's demise would lead to Township's uprising. In the bottom of the third, Andy Dochterman singled, advancing a runner to third base. Andrew Smoker followed with an RBI single to right field. Austin Gallagher then walked to load up the bases for Shawn Keller, who hit a base clearing triple to secure Township 3 more runs. Jared Ellis followed with a walk, putting runners on first and third. Ellis then stole second, and on the throw, Keller dashed for home, and was safe at the plate. Township scored a total of 5 runs that inning, giving them the lead by a score of 5-3 going into the fourth inning. Township defense shut down Cocalico in the fourth inning, and in the bottom of that inning, Pete Andrelczyk sacrificed bunted to score another run for MT, putting them up by a score of 6-3 after four full innings of play. Yoder closed out the fifth inning by picking off a runner on first. Jared Ellis, who replaced Yoder in the sixth inning, struck out the side in the sixth, and lead MT to yet another win.
