Some good intentionned people believe they have the power and/or the knowledge to perform exorcisms. These people are usually practitionners of many different faiths. Some of them claim to be psychics. I have heard of these individuals using salt, pendulums, crystals and all kinds of other accessories. One day I even came across someone who claimed he had eight different psychic abilities... (the odds of an individual having just a single one of these abilities and having developped the skills is extremely rare, I wonder why this individual did not have his own place in the Guiness book of records?). A demon will use any trick in the book , he can read your mind, he knows all the right answers and can convince you of anything. A demon can pretend to be a dead relative, he will know all the little secrets you have never shared with anyone and he will use this knowledge to his advantage. A real psychic is not qualified to perform an exorcism either for the simple reason that I have just mentionned, the demon can fool anyone into believing it is a human spirit. The only one capable of performing an exorcism is a deserving member of the clergy. The real exorcist will have to go through a period of preparation which can last for months in order to perform the exorcism. During this time the exorcist will sink himself into his faith, he will purge himself of his sins, follow a strict diet and train both physically and spiritually. Of course, before calling an exorcist , make sure that the victim has had some consultations with both a medical doctor and a psychiatrist. Many mental illnesses can be mistaken for possession.
