TEACHER PAGE

About this page:

The webquest I have created is based on a unit of study for my sixth grade science classes.  I use Prentice Hall text books, which have really good information, but for the unit “Exploring the Universe”, I thought it would be much more interesting for the students to choose the topic they are interested in learning more about.

Students will also get their creative juices flowing by working on a graphic piece for their Exhibit.   Students will have to use their cooperative group skills to come up with ideas for their exhibit.  They will need to show off their art work and research in a way that is interesting and fun to visit.

Evaluation of student work:

·               I created the evaluation rubric, but as I get to know my students better I hope to have them make their own evaluation chart for the next WebQuest we do together.  It is important for the student to invest in his/her own work and be responsible for the outcome of the assignment or project.

Thoughts:

·               I think that the webquest will give your students a chance to use the internet in a way that is more controlled but less confusing to search.  It will hope to show them that there is more to computer projects, there is a purpose to their searches and that even within a project there is room for individual choice and creativity.  Most importantly the students should have fun with the project while gaining an understanding of the subject matter.

Ideas:

·               Invite other classes (perhaps 3rd or 4th grade) to visit the class Exhibit.  This will give the students a chance to show off their work and explain the information they have researched.
