What It Means To Be A Muslim?

Being a Muslim requires a lot of effort, conviction and a real zest for increased knowledge. The personality of Muslims makes them natural leaders and longing for political commission. If there was any person in history that attained qualities that should be modeled, it is indeed the Beloved Prophet Himself.

Perhaps it would be fair to say that if one wishes to become a good Muslim, all he needs to do is follow basic common fundamental moral, ethical, and humane rules of courtesy and respect. Make an agreement with yourself that you will uncover the truth and uphold the truth in public and in private. To be a viceroy of Allah sent to revive Islam as the only deen for mankind to live by.

Learn about applying Islamic laws. Think as on a mission to spread the deen of Islam to mankind, looking for ways to propagate, educate, and promote Islam. Once you have learnt, teach others and get them involved. Once you have learnt a new topic of Islam don't be like the Jews of the past who kept the laws for themselves. Let your friends and relative now about what you have learnt and inspire them too.

Encourage family meetings. They will help promote better understanding among family members. One should not think this action insignificant. Rather it is such an indispensable step for building individuals that it needs no further explanation. Organize the keen people of the society. Inspire them to learn and practice religion, to speak against injustice, to act nonviolently, and to see peace near at hand. Visit the poor, the sick, and the needy. Work at the grassroots. Know the problems of the poor, help them to build their basic life, encourage them, and make them realize what power is hidden within them. Teach them to be self-reliant, not dependent on external aid. The Prophet started with illiterate desert people, one by one, and the result is known to all. Advocate kindness to others and the approach of love, courtesy, and respect.

Teach people religion and they will learn humanity. Help them see religion in practice through your deeds, and not just in words through your tongue. Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. Our Beloved Prophet spread Islam not through the conquest of the sword, but through the practice of kindness. Water is the softest thing, yet with time it can penetrate mountains and earth: This shows clearly the principle of softness overcoming hardness.

It is interesting and significant to note how the observations of the ex-Kaiser of Germany, who, on the occasion of his 70th birthday celebrations at Doorn, Holland, said in his speech:

"And understand this - if ever the Muslims should conceive the idea that it is the command of Allah to bring order into a declining West and subjudice to His will, then - with a faith in God - they will come upon the godless Europeans like a tidal wave, against which even the reddest Bolshevist, full of eagerness for combat, will be helpless"

Tomorrow's Topic: The Philosophy Of Salaah

P.S. Pass it on to friends, family, neighbors, Muslims and Non Muslims alike.
