This is my friend, John, in the bow of our canoe, with others in the background, as we start out on our 4 day adventure. |

The White Cliffs are one of the spectacular sights along this section of the Missouri River. |

Our guide, Don Sorenson of the Missouri River Canoe Company, has the knowledge and experience to make each year's trip a memorable one, regardless of the weather. (Not bad in this pic, right? You should have seen the rain storm later that afternoon.) Food, fun, fellowship, we have it all right here on the River! |

In May, 1997, the Eye of the Needle ceased to exist. Whether this was due to vandalism, or natural causes (we had an extraordinarily wet winter and spring), may never be known. If it was indeed vandalism, I cannot understand why anyone would want to destroy something as beautiful as this. In case you've never seen the Eye of the Needle, here is my picture of our 1995 group after we climbed the cliffs to the Eye.

One last shot of the river shows John smiling for the camera as we approach the Hole in the Wall. In 1997 we spent a full day (and two nights) camped across the river from the Hole in the Wall. We also did some exploratory hiking, and ended up climbing up to the hole the back way.
I won't speak for anyone else on the trip, but I sure enjoyed myself, and I think John did too. |
