This cupboard is based on a design by Michael Dunbar. It is made from locally grown walnut, and finished with satin poly only. After the boards were thickness planed, I planed the wood on all four sides by hand. Next, I ripped them, and cut to them to size. After some more planing, I made the basic cabinet, and I used a door panel router bit set to do the door. The grain match is pretty seamless on the raised panel, and the piece looks nice, despite the fact that it is a really simple one to build. |

This is a small step stool made out of wood culled from the burn pile. I made it with hand tools only. The joinery took a long time, since the joints have no glue, or other fastening devices. It is quite sturdy. I believe that the wood is ash. I have a lot of wood from that tree left. |

This lamp was one on my first attempts on the lathe. My lathe is a simple, entry-level one, and I am still learning basic cuts. The wood is a cedar 4-by-4 I bought from a man that was tearing down an old barn. I got a lot of good cedar from him for $15! The base is walnut. | next picture | next text |
