"Picnic at Hanging Rock"
Production Notes...
Joan Lindsay's enigmatic novel about the disappearance of three Australian school girls and the effect it has on their school and community was the basis for this play. Since Lindsey's novel depended heavily on metaphors, Director Charles Beck chose to present the play in a stylized manner.
Video and slide projections, classical music and extensive sound effects were used to create a dreamlike setting that emphasized the overall effect and mood of the play rather than the narrative.
