MSTS Routes

This section of site is devoted to screenshots of my routes in MSTS that I am developing.

I have been involved with MSTS since 2001 and building highly accurate and detailed models since 2002. Progress has been hampered by several computer failures since Oct 2003, when I had to packup and be ready to get out of the way of the Southern California wild fires. Nothing has realy been lost thanks to good backups. I hope to add more to this site in the not too distant future.

Tehachapi Pass route

These are screenshots of my Bakersfield to LA MSTS route that is under developement. The route's track work is %95 complete, only Taylor Yard, Mission Rd Coach Yard, and the ATSF Bakersfield Yard remain uncompleted. The route covers over 200 miles of the Tehachapi Subdivision and several branchlines in their entirety, adding nearly 180 extra miles.

I ran the mainline with steam power from Taylor to Bakersfield in Explore Route mode. It took over eight (8) hours to run straight through, adding and cutting out helpers as required. This route if completed will stretch the limits of MSTS and be an awesome route to run. I can easily see crews putting in a full 15:59 on this route.

I am experimenting with ScaleRails by 3DTrains. If I decide to use ScaleRails, I will be rebuilding the whole route... All 350 miles of it.
