Victor, a practicing violinist, has been involved with classical music now for all 18 years of his short life. He has studied with Esther deGrunigen and Sophie Vilker, Former Chair of the String Department of the Longy School of Music, and under Bayla Keyes and Andres Diaz, winning an Honorable Mention in a YPCO (see below) Concerto Competition, as well as achieving finalist standing in a Russian-American Music Association competiton.
Victor has participated in several music activities as a violinist, attending the Summit Music Festival in Tarrytown, NY, Point Counterpoint in Lake Dunmore, Vermont, Boston University Tanglewood Institute String Quartet Workshop. He has played in orchestras in New York, Finland, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
Currently Victor is the first violinist of the Roxbury Latin String Quartet, the Rivers Scholarship String Quartet and a senior quartet of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. Victor is a concertmaster of the Longy School of Music's Young Performers Chamber Orchestra (YPCO) and the Senior Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra (GBYSO). He has also been a Second Principal for GBYSO's Sinfonietta Chamber Orchestra and for the YPCO.
Victor currently studies conducting as an amateur on his own. He intends on taking conducting classes at Harvard College, where he matriculates in the fall of 2001. He may be contacted at [email protected].
