Classical orchestral music is your passion. You dance to Viennese waltzes in Mahler's Symphony No. 1 and saunter forth to the ever-shifting rhythms of Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps. People come eagerly and openly to you looking for advice, and you openly and kindly listen to their suggestions and comments. As Assistant Conductor to the Music Director, your responsibility will be taking notes during all rehearsals and always being prepared to sub for the Music Director or to conduct a sectional. You must be familiar with the basics of conducting, including general baton and score-reading techniques. Advanced theory knowledge is a nice plus.
