Perform the following activities and print the answers on paper to turn in for FIVE extra points on any test that you take in class to increase your math grade.



Activity One - How is food related to health?

For the following activity, you are to visit the site Kids Health BMI. Find your Body Mass Index. Calculate what your appropriate body weight should be according to you height. Write an explanation of BMI. Then go to the and review the information on foods for kids to eat according to the Food Pyramid. Write an explanation of what types of foods you should eat according to the food pyramid based on the information given from the website. They take a look at the actual Official US Government Food Pyramid Guide. Also, explain how you thing food is related to being healthy. Turn in the copy of the results and explanations into Ms. Yang.



Activity Two - Learn about your daily routines and your favorite foods.

Part One:

Read the article on healthy eating and activities on the site from Nutrition and Food Safety. Write a paragraph of 6 or more sentences of what you learned from the article. Also, write about the physical activities that you do during the week.

Part Two:

Then, you are to go to the Fat and Calorie Calculator website to calculate the amount fat and calories you eat for 10 of your favorite foods. Add the total calories, fat, protein and fiber of the ten foods you like to eat together.



Activity Three - Metric Conversions and Other Planets


For the following activity, you are to visit the site Metric Conversions and use the Length, Weight and Temperature Calculators to convert the measurements of your height, weight and today's temperature into the metric units. Print a copy of the results to turn into Ms. Yang.

As a fun addition, go to other planets and see how much you would weigh on three other planets and covert the weights into pounds and kilograms by using the previous converter. Turn in the different weights and explain in 6 or more sentences why this happens.



Activity Four - Food Pyramid and Party


For the following activity, you are to visit the site Food Pyramid and read about what types of foods are good for people. Write a one page paper, pretending that you are speaking to a third grade student about the food pyramid.

Then you are to go to the site Kidchef and find ten recipes that you think would make a party for 20 students. Calculate how many servings of each type of food you should make for 20 students.
