Ladder Match
Donnovan is in his hotel room sitting slouched on the sofa chair with a remote in his hand� There is a knock on the door but Donnovan does not move one bit� He is swinging the remote up and down pressing the buttons over and over again as the knocks become louder and harder as they echo thru out the room�Several minutes pass from the last knock and Donnovan is still sitting on the sofa chair looking at the TV screen� There is some commotion going on outside the door, Donnovan remains steady not moving as the door begins to open and we see Anthony Christopher Edwards and the hotel manager enter the room. Donnovan does not turn to look but is aware who is in the room� ACE turns to the manager and assures him that Donnovan is alright, he hands him a few bills and asks him to leave� The door is closed behind him and ACE walks over to where Donnovan is sitting and looks at the screen in amazement�

---ACE---
     Is that what I think it is?

Donnovan does not answer him he only stares at the screen as ACE walks over to the bar and fixes a drink� Both men are drinking scotch with two ice cubes in it, ACE walks over to Donnovan and sits down next to him� He takes a deep breath �

---ACE---
     Well � You want some room service?

Donnovan shakes his head NO as ACE reaches over to grab the phone as Donnovan presses play on the screen �

---Unknown Voice---
      Ready when you are�

ACE has the phone to his ear and you can hear the operator talking on the other end � The phone slides down the side of his face and he hangs it up as he watches� On the TV is the video tape that was handed to Donnovan Midas from Rita Stansky� We are now seeing Steve Stansky lying in his hospital bed with his wife at his side� He is in a hospital gown and looks terrible, his hair is very short and his eyes look like they are sunken into the back of his head�

---Steve Stansky---
     Well right now the only thing that is going thru my head is a comment you made to me a long time ago Donnovan� When you and I had are little thing, your last words to me were �Next time I talk to you I will be standing over your grave�� See kid I am the best friend you got, I am willing to die to prove you right �
Steve Stansky begins to laugh at his comment, then after a moment begins to cough�

---ACE---
     Good to know that he didn�t loose his sense of humor towards the end�

---Steve Stansky---
     I just caught your words the other day Donnovan, and I can honestly say that I deserved everything you said about me� It is only on my death bed that I can admit this to you. I love you Donnovan, your like a son to me and it rips my heart apart every day knowing what I did to you, but I cant take away the past but I can help you in the future�

ACE begins to talk over the tape �.

---ACE---
     Don you shouldn�t be watching this the day�.

---Donnovan Midas---
     Shut the @#$% up!!!

---Steve Stansky---
     Hopefully in my death you will become the man that both I and Rita know you are, you have your match at Wrestival a chance at becoming a champion once again Donnovan and I know you have it in you to win�

ACE grabs the remote and presses pause

---ACE---
     Let�s take a walk�

---Donnovan Midas---
     What for?

---ACE---
     You need to clear your mind of all this shit going on right now, and you can tell me to shut the @#$% up all you want but the truth is that your match is tomorrow and instead of getting a goodnights sleep you are feeling your mind up with all this stuff that can wait until after Wrestival� Do you think PDJ is sitting in front of his TV right now watching his dead friend reach out to him from the grave � NO� Do you think The Phil is at home right now drinking scotch sulking in his sorrows � NO� So why are you doing it �
---Donnovan Midas---
     You worry too much ACE, I am ready for tomorrow and nothing can take me out of my game plan for tomorrow. But it is very important that I sit here and listen to what he has to say�

ACE picks up the remote and presses play �

---Steve Stansky---
    The guys you are fighting Donnovan are great fighters, but none of them have what you have, none of them have the heart of a champion and the skills you have� I want you to give them hell out there and some day Donnovan, someday I will see you again �

The VCR stops� Donnovan takes the remote and turns off the TV and finishes his drink before standing up�

---ACE---
     WOW Don�.

---Donnovan Midas---
      (Takes a minute) Alright who is my biggest threat ACE�

---ACE---
     You sure you�re ready for this�

---Donnovan Midas---
     Yeah�

---ACE---
     Phillips�

---Donnovan Midas---
      Ok� Phillips I see, but hasn�t he only won one match here in the WpW?

---ACE---
     OK so winning one match means that you are undefeated right�

---Donnovan Midas---
     Smart ASS! Yeah ok so he is stepping up to the plate and he has a legitimate chance of taking the title. (Pauses) I don�t know I just don�t see it ACE, Phillips just don�t seem like the type to come into a fed and take the title after one match. He has some good moves but nothing special.
---ACE---
     Hey Don I can tell you one thing, he is just like you were at his age. Coming into a fed calling out the big guns and basically telling everyone what he is going to do and the truth is that when you did it everyone laughed at you and underestimated you. Then you came out and won it all, so think about that when judging his chances of winning�

---Donnovan Midas---
     Well all I am seeing right now is Phillips talking and PDJ coming right behind him and praising him�

---ACE---
      I don�t know don maybe him and Phillips have a little thing going if you know what I mean, I honestly have never seen someone kiss somebody�s ass so much in my life..

---Donnovan Midas---
      Come one ACE give him a break he is just telling the guy he respects him and he thinks he is a good wrestler�

---ACE---
     Bullshit Don, you did the same thing to PDJ. You just gave him respect and he turned it into you kissing ass so it looks like he is doing the same.

---Donnovan Midas---
     You have got a point ACE, but it doesn�t matter PDJ has been running his mouth now for the last week talking about what he is going to do at Wrestival and how he is going to win the title. But all in all I haven�t seen anything impressive as of yet, at the beginning he was the favorite of the match but over time he kind of took a back burner to the rest of us and now he is just a underdog like the rest. He will walk into the match facing 4 men that he can�t stomach and 1 man who he just adores and in the end he will walk out with a few bruises but no gold�

---ACE---
     That�s the spirit Donnovan you tell that nobody where he can stick it�

---Donnovan Midas---
     Come on now ACE I am not saying he is a nobody, I am simply saying that he isn�t going to take the title with ease like we all thought at the beginning�
---ACE---
     Ok I got you but tell me about Alex, he hasn�t said much the last couple days Don. I thought he would make an impression on us but he has kind of faded away in this match�

---Donnovan Midas---
     He let them get to him ACE, he let the words of The Phil, PDJ and Phillips get to him and throw him off of his game. He started off strong but he exposed a weakness to PDJ and he exploited it so now he is just sitting back with no where to go. I think he can do something good in this match but I don�t think he can take the title�

---ACE---
     That sucks Don, the guy lost his debut match to you and now he will lose a title shot to you� I think you need to send him like a twelve pack or something�

---Donnovan Midas---
     You�re such a smart ass, if you wrestled as good as you flapped your jaw you might get a win�

---ACE---
     You don�t have to be a asshole now don�

---Donnovan Midas---
     Is it worth mentioning Graves�

---ACE---
    No he is nothing in this match, what about the Phil?

---Donnovan Midas---
    The Phil�. He is a tough one now ACE, I don�t know how to prepare for him I keep thinking about how I can take a guy out of his game that doesn�t even know what year it is.

---ACE---
     I don�t know, tell him that Kurt Cobain died? Oh oh I got it tell him that Nell from Gimmie a break died� If that doesn�t throw him off of his game I don�t know what will.
---Donnovan Midas---
     (Laughing) Well I don�t think her death will be as impactful as you think. I honestly hear from everyone how PSA was such a great guy and how it will be so nice to see him back and the Phil gone. But after hearing PSA talk these last few times I can say that he doesn�t sound any different to me, he sounds like the same conceited prick that was around before. He talks about his dominance and everyone else inferiority to him and I don�t think that sounds like a guy who has changed full hearted. Maybe PSA was the Phil back in 94 and no one knew it, and with the Phil being around for so long PSA figures hell why not just say what I want to say, the Phil did so much bad stuff nothing I say now will upset the fans�

     I think you thought about that a little to long Don, seriously all you have to do is tell him about OJ an he will crumble in the palm of your hand�

---Donnovan Midas---
     You know what Wrestival is tomorrow and 6 of us will step into the ring with one goal� TO WIN� and only one can do that. So right now I am just going to sit back and finish watching my tape.

---ACE---
     There is more?

---Donnovan Midas---
     Yeah
