Has seen you observing in the rooms, heard your questions on a world which seems so complicated to a newcomer, and hopes this letter will help your journey to discover if Gor is right for you.

If you find something about Gor which strikes you so deeply within your soul, you will find you return time and again despite your fears and trembling hands.

Having travelled down a similar path, he knows only too well how overwhelming Gor can be in the beginning, as you strive to understand yourself and struggle to please the men who inspire such deep emotions within your core.
Observing will teach you a lot... but the lessons that sear into your soul will be the ones you learn yourself, through trial and error. Don't let fear keep you from striving to please.

Know yourself. Know what you believe in, what you are capable of, what you desire and what you fear.

One of the basic Gorean premises is to be what you are, and who you are.

If you are not sure you are slave, then don't claim to be one, for you will be treated as such, uncompromisingly, by Gorean men who will expect you to be what you say you are.
Know what it means to be Gorean.

Read the books, reread them, see past the fiction and look at the society he describes, the ideals of that society, not the setting or characters.

There is no replacement for reading the books, and it is only by reading them yourself that you will be able to sift through the many web sites and discussion boards devoted to Gor and search for those which are accurate in their information. Be honest with yourself: do you believe in the entirety of the philosophy?

No one is born on Gor... but the ideals Norman laid out call to some. Those are Goreans.

You cannot be more Gorean than someone else... it's an absolute.

You either are, or you aren't, or you are figuring out if you are or aren't.

It's ok to not be sure; it's a lot to process how you feel about such an all encompassing group of ideals.

And if you have to selectively embrace what makes Gor what it is... then don't call yourself a Gorean slave.

That is one of the biggest problems our community has right now, is those who don't agree with Gor but like the title, and teach others ways that contradict what Norman says.

From a kajira's perspective, in order to know if the philosophies apply to you, you would have to understand what the philosophies are.

For her, that is done with several steps: introspection, reading the books, first hand experience, and discussion. Schools will not "teach" you to be Gorean. That part of you is already inside you, or it is not.

We can only teach you what Gor is. Only you will know if it is what lays within your soul, and only after a good deal of time learning all the facets of the philosophies.

Gor is about celebrating the differences in the genders.

It is about strong women and stronger men, and a passion for life that is missing in so much of today's society.

It is about being man or woman enough to take responsibility for your actions.

It is about freeing yourself from the expectations of modern society to be true to your inherent nature, and true to yourself. It is about courage, accountability, self honesty, understanding honour, strength of character and will, and it is about love.

She begs you to understand that Gor is much deeper than the imaginary taverns and gathering places that we create in our minds through this medium.

It can be a serious lifestyle to those who live by Gorean ideals.

While some simulation is required to serve a virtual drink or to create the illusion of kneeling or dancing (all things which could conceivably occur offline), many people within the taverns are who they present themselves to be; it is not a role. Honesty is very important to this lifestyle, although if you are here to role play, you can also find plenty of rooms which do so openly.

But role playing a Gorean and being a Gorean are two very different things.

Many girls want to assimilate into the culture, to blend well and fit in so they too can be called on to serve.

They choose a "Gorean" name, they memorize an imaginary language to sound "Gorean", and they set up a fantasy picture on their profiles to look "Gorean".

They go through a great deal of effort to make up a background, (ie, raised on Cos, kidnapped by Tuchuks).

They memorize quotes taken out of context, without ever having seen the books themselves.

The trappings don't matter as much as whether your heart is slave, and whether you are pleasing to Gorean men.

If they wish for you to have a certain name, they will name you, and the same would go for photos and clothing.

One of the Gorean names in Marauders was "Pudding" (that name she doesn't see very often online) and some names of slaves were often names from Earth. :)

It has been said that intelligent girls may be pleasing.

Being a slave doesn't mean you no longer have the ability to think, or to have opinions, it is how you express those opinions that is important.

Being given the chance to speak openly does not mean you have the right to speak displeasingly.

Learning to speak with grace and tact will enable you to present the truth as pleasingly as possible, for you do not have the right to censor the truth from Gorean men.

It may be hard to be unowned, the ache to belong completely to a man may hurry you to beg to be collared. A collar will not validate you as a slave if you are not one deep inside your core.

As potential property, you have a need to protect yourself and make yourself valuable for your future owner. You will learn what it means to be enslaved, and that can only be taught at the feet of a Gorean man.

Ownership is absolute, it is serious, and it is not instanteous.

You have no right to expect anything, except that he will use you as he sees fit.

Surrendering to ownership means you no longer have the right to determine your fate, and while you may beg for release, it is the man's decision as to whether or not to release you.

Some Masters may choose to give you permanently to another, regardless of your preference on future owners.

Trust would be essential for kaylee in ownership, for her to be able to place his will above her own. kaylee would strongly recommend knowing the man extremely well, and his expectations for his property, before you beg his collar.

There are no collars of "protection" on Gor. Slaves are to be pleasing to the Masters and Mistresses present, subject to correction and discipline by other free people, and you cannot be protected by white silks or a collar.

It is part of the utter helplessness of a slave, and a way to train her to strive to be pleasing always.

When you first enter a tavern, terrified and trembling, protection seems like a life saver.

However, in this society, in this medium, no one can force you to type out something you don't consent to, unless they have found a way to reach in and grab your hands through the monitor.

If you type along with a "killing" or "force collar" or "rape".... you are consenting to it, no matter how much you type that you are protesting.

In the end, being coddled and trained to rely on protection will be a crueller awakening, for Gorean men will treat you as a slave, and not with kid gloves.

Dare to go to the rooms which terrify you.

Beg to serve the most challenging of men, to strive to excel in your service to men... not to coast in easier climates.

And you will make mistakes in the beginning, we all did.

The corrections are a way to improve yourself and be more pleasing, and as such, you may find yourself grateful for someone taking the time to correct you.

There are those out here who teach and discuss.

The problem is... we do it so many times, over and over again, and half the time some girls don't want to discover that slavery is filled with sacrifice, it is not negotiable and involves more than laying a girl's back against furs, so our time and words are wasted on those.

But we keep hoping, when we see new girls such as you venture into a tavern, that inside lays a slave heart that is sincerely aching to be awakened.

Gor is not "politically correct". There is no pretence of equality between men and women.

You will not be respected as a peer. You will not be coddled. You will not be placed on a pedestal.

You will be treated as what you claim to be: a Gorean slave.

It can be harsh, but it is fulfilling to those who feel it in their soul.

Above all, don't get discouraged, we all learn each day on our path, some days are easier than others for each of us.

If you are a slave who craves to serve a Gorean man, your own need to be in a setting such as this will overcome your fears and self doubts.

One day you might look differently at those who did not give you a disservice by "giving the new girl a break" but instead, challenged you to see what you were made of, and treated you as a slave.
