Forgotten Lore

Love (it seems)…it be no more,
Save within…forgotten lore,
Tomes of verse…doth speak of it,
But only as…past tense-
Can it be…am I that dense,
Or be it mere coincidence,
That I feel…as I do,
More an exception…than the rule?
For 'twas my passion…my desire,
E'er discretely to inquire,
But on this subject,
None would speak,
And for my efforts…thought a heretic,
Because I dared to speak my mind,
And to share feelings,
By others denied.
