When Neutron Stars Collide

a report on a very violent Universe

For several decades astronomers and astrophysicists have sought a cause for the many Gamma Ray Bursts [GRB’s] observed throughout the various regions of space, producing energies greater than those of novas, supernovas, and only surpassed by the violent collisions of galaxies.

Recently, research conducted in deep space may hold the answer; Providing the observation of the ‘collision’ of what appear to be two neutron stars[also known as pulsars]which are located some seven billion light years from earth.

The energy released[in but a mere fifteen seconds] was greater than the output of what earth’s sun will produce in the next ten billion years, and began before our system itself had been born.

The hostile nature of the universe itself exudes a sense of foreboding; For though one looks out on the ‘peace’ of an evening sky, all around us, chaos reigns.

And with each new discovery, the universe poses more questions than it answers.
